Must be nice. Rubbing it in for those of us working the summer from Dante's seventh ring = not cool.

That's about right! How'd you know I'm way overdue for a haircut? :) After working all those days, my self maintenance has fallen by the wayside. I'm pretty sure the other people at the beach think I'm a homeless person that wandered in with a kidnapped 7 month old.

Anybody know the company policy regarding counting our layover hotels toward our personal hotel rewards programs? Does one exist?

I think it is up to the hotel. ANd they don't want to give us any points because DAL gets a discount on the rooms. I tried years ago, and the hotels aren't interested in extending ANY bennies to us. (except of course prime rooms right nest to the ice machines)

Heh heh! I always enjoyed seeing how long I could keep the reserve beard going, at least until the wife threatened to cut me off!

I'm hearing that there's a big announcement coming this Friday. Maybe it's the long awaited WB order.

Well Shiz, since you asked...

I think it's fair to say ALPA's membership was pretty solidly against raising the retirement age. How did ALPA do on that? (Hint: NOT good.)

It seems, as far as Delta pilot contracts go, ALPA National has an unbroken string of trading mainline jobs to regional carriers for meager (as-in "cost of living only") increases to our hourly rates. (Sub-mediocre performance)

They continue to vehemently deny the blatant conflict of interest at ALPA National.

So, to answer you question: Yes, the results could have been better.

Age 65 was coming no matter what... FACE THE FACT... Would you have preferred that the 60-64.99 year olds have been able to come back onboard where their seniority left off? How about allowing grey-on-grey immediately? -both of which were in the original proposal that ALPA fought to change, and accomplished.

Yes, it sucks that the limit changed, but getting "mad" and opposing it publically doesn't fix the fact it was going to change anyway. Emotion has little place in affecting best possible outcomes.

The last two majors to sign ALPA contracts have capped flying in the lower end of the scope clause. At one point, DL had over 450 feeders, NW over 350, UA had over 400, CAL had 275... That's over 1475 feeders flown by "not mainline". End state of the the most recent ALPA mainline contracts will result in a max 900 feeders among those legacy groups. That is a 40% reduction.

Have small jet ALPA pilots benefitted or been hurt? Go check the change in the number of ALPA small jet pilots versus the IBT and non-union small jet airlines. It's not good for your union brothers.

Is the reduction enough? Not a chance.
Is the trend moving the correct direction? Yes.
Do we have the ability to keep making gains? Yes.
Is the greatest threat to our careers really RJ's not shrinking fast enough for your liking? Not by a long shot.

Yeah, I don't think we got big enough raises either. But lets look at our neighborhood:
DAL pilots secured 12.84% on amendable with 3%/yr 3 year deal(6mo early)
UAL followed lagging DAL rates by a year, 3%/yr 5 yr deal (3 yrs after amendable)
AMR is 12-18% behind DAL, 2-2.5%/yr raises and a 7 year deal (5+ years after amendable)
ALA is 8% lagging DAL, 2%/yr raises and a 5 year deal (2+ years after amendable)
LCC pilots lag basically everyone by 35-45% (7+ years past amendable)
SWA pilots are ahead of DAL by 6%, got 1% in '11 and 0% in '12. (10 months past amendable)

DAL pilots will probably be getting the next contract survey in about 7-8 months, NOT 4.5 YEARS from now like most of their peer airlines. A profitable company for 3 years in a row lead to the increases in C2K. DAL will be right in that wheelhouse in 19 months, and the starting point will already by 19% higher with tighter scope top and bottom end at the exchange of openers.
