Congrats on the order, guys.

No, these things have all come true. We are already growing. We are already hiring. The aircraft have been ordered. Delivery and orders are two different things.

The 321's will replace the 757's, the A330's will replace the older 767ER's. Good news is, the A330 pays a lot more than the 767ER. Now, how about negotiating a good pay rate for the A321?
I'm counting 100 B737-900s + 88 B717s + 30 A321-200s + 10 A330-300s = 228 aircraft being delivered in the next 3-4 years. Are we parking 228 aircraft in the next 3-4 years?

I for one am very pleased by the Airbus order.

No they're not here yet and I suppose they could be cancelled. Or as Delta did with some 737-800's they were contractually forced to take, they could accept delivery and immediately sell them at a loss.

However those days were long ago. An order is the first real step in getting the aircraft on property. I'm ecstatic!

Well sure. Clearly they'll park all the 757s in the next 3 years. Especially the ones that they're dumping millions into for lie flat seats and new IFE. And those 767-300ERs that they're doing the same too. Yup. Gonna park them too.

Dial it back a bit. This is "fleet renewal" as per the article. Some are possibly growth, all definitely are not.

Dial it back? How about you tell the same to the Negative Nancy crowd that dive bombs every shred of good news with doomsday predictions? Everyone knows some B757s will be parked. That's old news. Does anyone honestly think management is going to tell the jittery Wall Street folk that these are pure growth aircraft? They'll freak out and dump our stock. Management has to be very careful about how they announce this to Wall Street.

Did your dad give you his password to post again?

Yup, the fleet plan changed. It will change again. But Timbo got on here and said something "will" happen. Where's your correction of that bad assertion? btw, the fleet plan change added 40 aircraft by 2017...

Maybe you guys ought to dial it back a bit on the certitude. And thanks again for demonstrating your "fair and balanced" approach.

Geez tough crowd.
We've all been giddy for this order for months now and people are fighting over it. Take it for what it's worth. Good news for now.

After 12 years of press release after press release touting "New Delta Service" ....................on RJs, and hundreds of aircraft being retired with no replacement - I will take it. This is good news!

Now whats all this about getting liquored up on some lake and jumping off a bridge? Reminds me of my glory days, but then again you know what Don Henly says,

"Don't look back, you can never go back." Although, it might be worth a try.
