Nope.. I meant exactly what I said. :D |
On 9/12, it worked to furlough and replace mainline with regional. I just don't see this being the same remedy to a passenger downturn in 2010.
First, and I apologize to do not take this for adding politics but look at it as right down the center... if things don't improve by fall 2010 you'll have a new congress and the free market likes a split in political control so I think it'd give us an upturn that negates the ROI of a furlough. If things do improve, then they improve, again negating the ROI of a furlough. Either way, I'm thinking it'd be 2011 before you could furlough. Second, I think the reduction if it happened would be largely the reverse of 2001. I think the trend will go away from what drove the 2002 explosion of regionals (cheap and everyone wants more frequency!) to less frequency using larger jets. 50s replaced by 70s, 70s by 76, 76 by 9s, 9s by 88s, and so on. So I believe the 50s are indeed going and I fear the 9s might go but I doubt it, not until a replacement is found and hence the incredibly vital battle over scope. Third, I think we'll see a 9 replacement put in the works and its called the MD-88/90, and the 88/90 replaced by additional 60-80 737s. Thats my guess. It doesn't have to be an overnight delivery or start anytime soon, but just a steady one that does come when the large 9s hit their max max. I mean like no exemptions to keep flying them and once that happens we need to chop the wings off so the next AirTran doesn't get them. |
Sucks to start writing and by the time you hit post dragon drops a gold mine of info! :D

Notes from the CVG base visit There was a rep from a Marketing arm called Customer Experience. They deal with things like seating, Wifi and Sky Club. They deal with everything except IFS. Looking at adding a new level of service called Sky Priority to treat the HVP (precious metals) better. They make up 5% of our passengers but account for 26% of our revenue. They were even looking at ways to more efficiently move pax (and crew) between JFK and LGA. They’re working on a better commuter policy. Something like a hybrid. 1. Someone better clue the NWA gate agents in on just how important our "heavy metals" are to the bottom line. Been hearing some horror stories on the HVPs and their treatment at some of the Delta N/Delta S combined bases. 2. I'd love to know what possible things could be done to efficiently move pax between LGA and JFK. Seriously. 3. Commuter policy improvements? Can you add some DEETS? Hybrid how? |

Apologize in advance if some of this is old news. Please feel free to PM me any questions. “We need to protect Atlanta”. Could be talking about SWA or Citrus. One other item – we’re supposed to be focusing on A-0 not D-0. The pressure on gate agents is overblown. Senior Bubbas pointed out that this message has not made it to the line. The Company would rather we arrive on time. Great Post! I am nominating it for POTD (Post of the DAY). 2 Comments - not directed at you, but at our recent (not current) management. Yeah, we better not let Airtran establish a solid foothold in Atlanta.................DOOOOOH! Second, its about time, some sanity on the D-0 issue. Maybe there is a sliver of hope after all. :) Scoop |
Delta Airlines is running out of cash. They can not pay their creditors. The combination of their two airlines will cause many furlougees.
