I have a friend on the 9 who has an APD tomorrow. He's moving. Got done with his trip today and got rerouted into a turn tonight. Gets done at 11:40pm local mecca time. Add thirty minutes and it's into his APD day.
Is that legal? Or can they fly you until 3am or something on your APD and still be legal?

speaking of the DC-9, I've got a question and I don't have my computer so I can't look up the contract and would appreciate some help.

You meant Beer Can Factory, right?
Speaking of beer....I was just at my local Publix grocery store, and the Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye is back in stock! And it's on sale!
I got enough to get me through the Bama game tonight, unless they go to overtime!

Crew Tracking knows "nothing" about your schedule, other than the trip you are on. He should of called Crew Tracking and told them that he had an APD the next day and couldn't do it.
I've done that, I was on reserve, on a trip where the plane broke. And Broke. And broke some more, so they extended us a day. But the next day was a Golden Day off, so after reading the contract I called Tracking and told them that. 1/2 hour later they called back and put me on the next DH back to my base. This was in SEA so there was 7Er coverage right there, but Tracking doesn't know what you're doing after the trip, whether it's APD, Vacation, Golden Day, etc.

7. Crew Scheduling will make every reasonable effort to resolve any conflict between a reroute and a pilot’s scheduled vacation or other hard non-fly day, provided the pilot notifies Crew Scheduling of the conflict.
They have no idea and they don't really care what your next day is. I would call the union and get premium pay for that turn. Next paragraph from the contract:
A rerouted regular pilot who is not scheduled to release within four hours of the scheduled release of the last duty period of his original rotation, or within the same alendar day of the last duty period of his original rotation, whichever is later, (the “time limitation”) will receive single pay and credit (or the applicable pay, no credit for a GS, GSWC, IA, or IAWC) for the rotation as flown, plus single pay no credit for any duty period(s) that extends beyond such time limitation.
They used to do this a lot during the 05-07 timeframe on the 88 in ATL. Not enough FO's, no worries we will just reroute them. Well a lot of the reroutes ended up being paid out as double time. Tell you the truth, the company didn't care either as long as the trip got covered.

Well there are still 8 uncovered trips for tomorrow on the DC9B in ATL. They did assign passenger trips as far out as Jan 16th in the trip coverage today too. I guess the 9 has one more stay of execution.
