Now that I get to sign the release, I'm going to start asking gate agents to draw stuff like that.

Not really. I still have no authority for anything.

In reality, an auto-extension is not an extension at all, but a longer scheduled day that bypasses the intent of the rule.

The safe way would be to call the participants approaching a previously unforeseen extension, and get everyone's buy-in.

By the way, it's preposterous that we both have to sign the release to say we're good to go, but the language on good-to-continue is all about the PIC. If an F/O doesn't agree, he/she has to essentially disagree with the Captain, and again, play the fatigue card.

The whole process seems intellectually dishonest to me.
The FO should not have to play the fatigue card. He should tell the CA that he does not want to extend and the CA should then call the company and decline a extension. The CA should not place that on the copilot or ask him to call in fatigued.

The big threat are the ME carriers who, rocking subsidies from both sides, are planning on doing to the big cargo guys what they are in the process of attempting to do to all the established legacy airlines world wide: take deilvery of mass quantities of widebodies limited only by factory production rates and barf capacity all over anything and everywhere until the competition yields.
The only thing I can say for sure about the ME carriers and their mega hubs (all a chip shot away from each other) is that they will either succeed spectacularly or fail spectacularly. With oil prices declining and our increased lack of dependence on ME crude, I'd say the door is opening for civil unrest in those countries-- it's already on their doorstep. If that happens... game over for them.

Default DC9 Flying

Anybody know what's going on with the DC9? I understood its last flight is Jan 6, but if you look at the open time a bunch of flying just popped up. They have flights on the 9 until Jan 21. This is recently added open time. Is this simply a place holder to sub out to other equipment or are they keeping it around for a bit longer?

Default Reserve Greenslip

Guys,

Do we have any pay protection on a reserve GS? For example if you get re-routed and a high time reserve GS turns into a min time 30 layover do we get the 4:30 ADG?

Is there any light at the end of this tunnel?

Thanks

We do get the 4:30 ADG on reserve, as well as duty and trip credits. But no DPA or rotation guarantee.

I understand if the benefits are more important to you, I just think we got bigger fish to gut in 2015.
Travel passes are nice for conjugal visits when Daddy is flying 22 of 25 days in a row to make 80 hours.
