I had heard that the origional cockpit upgrage cost on the 88 was based on doing the cockpits of the 757. Delta has since cancelled the 757 cockpit upgrade so the cost of the 88 upgrade is going up. Rumor at recurrent.

I would also be curious as to the longevity of the fleet, given it's age and fuel economy.

If there is a problem with the autopilot, well there ain't much an auto pilot can do to overcome the physics of the MD-90s pitch control.

I flew on an MD-90 deadheading from DTW-TPA. It was a relatively smooth flight but during cruise, I could feel constant pitch changes...similar to mild mountain wave. I have never noticed anything like this on the 88. Is it something specific to the 90???

Well look, the locals can't drive to begin with and they're a disaster on snow. The northerners taunt and mock those southerners and then proceed to get out on the snow and go full highway speed because they're northerners... and they crash. Now add in two major interstates combine into a few lanes that do a couple of 90 degree turns through downtown, and boom! total disaster.

I'm a half way betweener being from Virginia. I laugh at both as I do donuts in the Publix parking lot.
