So many opportunities to keep the conversation lively, but none that bring us together to make this job what it used to be.

My fun meter is pegged...

DPA has had over 2 yrs to get enough cards together and call for a vote. The condescending "tough guy" attitude is why so many aren't renewing those same cards. Time to bring it to a vote..

If DPA wins, I'll support the new representation. If DPA loses.. take off your DPA bag tag and get on board with the rest of us. Make your voice heard within DALPA. Let's not turn into the next AWA-USair-AMR debacle.

After all, it's about unity..right?
I asked TC point blank, "If there was a vote tomorrow and DPA lost, would you give up or fall back to regroup and try again?"
His response was, "If we fail, we fail. The pilot group has spoken. At least we tried." He also said his wife is beyond all this and wants it over one way or another.

65 percent of our pilots voted for this contract. You know, the one that allows more 76 seat regional jets to be ordered by Delta to be flown by non-Delta pilots. The trend is not reversing course. More and more efficient jets continued to be outsourced. DCI is shrinking, but flying is not being brought in-house. If we keep the same course, our next step is allowing more seat in the jets already being outsourced in return for parking more 50 seaters.

I think all of this will happen far below us (or any current Delta pilot). It is more just a matter of doing the right thing for our profession and our airline.

IMHO Delta management needs this as much as we do ... we leveraged unity with DAL-NWA for gains in our PWA. Why not gain from solving our airline's future staffing problem?

I don't believe TC for a nanosecond. There will always be a vote "just around the corner"...but strangely enough I don't think that there ever will be one. But the DPA will also never go away, because ultimately it is about one thing: TC's obsession and anger about the fact that he was furloughed a few years ago, and blames NWA/Delta and ALPA with nearly every waking thought.

The worse part is that this is not leading to a unified pilot force that is the most fundamental element in securing a great contract. But I don't think TC cares. While ALPA national and our own DALPA are correctly focusing on the Emirates and Norwegian Air schemes that could annihilate our industry, the DPA continues to look like a bunch of buffoons, more interested in who hacked their website than in the long term prosperity and viability of this profession.

So...hey DPA, I am asking you to call for a vote and resolve this, or go away and once again support your current representative body, which is DALPA. If you win the election, I will be a good member of the union, just as I like to think that I am now.

But please, let's have some closure here!

I think that at this juncture it is wholly appropriate to relegate that group to squeaky wheel minority status...if there had been anything close to critical mass we would have seen a vote by now, don't you think?

Huh????? That statement does not make any sense.

Why not?

And why are you in favor of DC-9-10 sized aircraft being outsourced to the lowest bidder, off of our seniority list entirely?

Weren't the DC9-10s at NWA 78 seats? Didn't the pay the same as the DC950s? Isn't the 717 the same as a DC950? I really don't understand the "no thanks." you fly the 717, don't you?

Yeah, who would want that to be at the career carrier vs. a vendor.?

Who would want the chance to bid to fly on that ghastly machine, that rolled out the same time as the 777, is loved by passengers, has the range to do some unique missions for it's size, the list goes on.
