Where do we go to request the 2 days prior to CQ off?
I recall you could have that forced onto your schedule

Agreed. We have had so many Volume 1 procedural changes lately all without the benefit of a mandatory DBMS popup bulletin (just a paper bulletin that you file in the front of your Vol 1, and hopefully read!) but we can have a mandatory bulletin for this?

I think most guys are on board with showing a little extra appreciation for our true "high value" customers. Some letter in our v-file might have been a bit more appropriate.

I saw a random name pop up on linkedin, the guy was a 2006 hire on the 748 for Cathay and it said based in ATL.
CX has pilot bases at JFK, ATL, ORD, LAX, SFO, and ANC. Unfortunately our last pilot hired on those bases was hired in early 2008 and that was the last vacancy as well. Now all CX pilots are hired through a Cadet program to be Second Officers(Cruise Pilots). Very few CA's in those bases. Quite a lot of FO's.

I read it too. I don't get the heartburn. Boss says when permitting, make a personal gesture to an occasional customer. Big deal. Maybe I'm just not as sensitive about stuff like that.

My condolences Bar. It's sad when a life, full of experiences, friendships, and dreams... is reduced to an acronym in an NTSB report.

RIP "FTE2", age 47, and crew.

Won't we be able to do initial and cq training on our (nearly) state of the art windows-powered tablets?

I think it's a great idea! I will have 'fun' with it too. I'm going to start by telling him that since he's going over a Million Miles, HE gets to FLY the leg!

"Step right up, here you go Mr. Million Miles, sit in MY seat! Now...see... you just push these things to the wall, then you just pull back at the end of the runway, and that guy on your right will explain everything else! What seat did you have? Why? Because I'll be sitting back there, so don't fk up the landing!"

Do you get to hug his "million mile" trophy wife too?

In a week the DCI guys will get a memo telling us to do it also... One seamless Delta experience.

Can I wait until after I've wolfed down a dozen wings from Popeyes? Sometimes that's my only chance to eat during a 5-leg day.

Or maybe shake hands while I'm pushing my way upstream from using the aft lav.

My sentiments exactly Timbo! I'm very cordial, and, after they scowl, I make a crack about them sitting up front so I can sit in back. I appreciate their patronage greatly. I also try to delicately intimate that we're working hard for them. Show them the cockpit, answer any questions, and invite them to enjoy what is an increasingly customer friendly experience in the back. I actually relish that aspect of the job. I don't care if it comes from a bulletin or not. I also drag bags downstairs and push wheelchairs. If they're total dbags, I move on.

The two days off prior to training applies only to qualification training, and you ask for it when you enter your AE/VD/MD bid. The days will not be forced on your line if you do not want them.
