Not saying we should use any capital, but we better find away to eliminate the language that allows outsourcing.
Who knows, maybe someone will invent a "Mr. Fusion" for jet engines. Maybe cheap foreign pilots will become available to fly them. Maybe Sleepy Ed or another high-functioning sociopath will take over for RA and try to re-invent the outsourcing wheel.
Even if the company wants to bring DCI back to mainline, we've got to make sure they can't outsource it in the future. Put the genie back in the bottle!

Technical advancements could undo all of our assumptions and degrade our profession, same thing with misguided legislation to "fix" a pilot shortage. We have to be vigilant.
Here's the difference of pay rates:
American Eagle $104
ExpressJet $97
Republic $119
SkyWest $112
Air Wisconsin $101
GoJet $97
Horizon $114
Mesa $104
Pinnacle $87
Trans States $97
AVERAGE $103
Delta E195 $154.48
Delta E190/CRJ900 $131.42
I think it's still a significant gap to breach in C2015, and I think that the odds are better for us to have a TA before the bottom finally falls out of DCI. It surely will get hairy if I am mistaken.

Well now that is the crux of this entire discussion, isn't it? If you cannot fulfill your contract because of crew shortages, then those agreements are in peril. I believe that we kicked Mesa to the curb a few years ago for failure to live up to their end of their agreements. It's supply and demand going forward. We demand a certain level of feed. If you cannot supply it, it will have to come from somewhere. If the pilot shortage is true, it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to connect the dots.

Two interesting rumors I heard today.
1st is that RA is considering shutting down Expressjet like he did Comair.
2nd is that the company has offered 2004 rates for FAR 117 relief.
Not sure how true either of these are. I heard them from a buddy who heard them from a jumpseater.
And to all the 88Bs white slipping I really appreciate it. I haven't had a day at home on reserve in a really long time. Heading out to the driving range.

Express jet has 357 RJs 50 seats or less. There is but one way out of their mess.
