I am curious about there being any way to know ahead of time if an IOE is being planned or scheduled? I think I will get a call the night before the trip if I get bumped, but are there perhaps any telltale notes on the rotation that might be revealing?

Thanks Scoop
Also, sometimes 3 or 4 days out IcrewMax (on your smart phone) will show several pilots instead of just you and him. On my last checkride, I saw a 3rd dude listed that I looked up and saw was a LCA. Called the Capt and gave him a head's up 3 days prior, sure enough dude showed up at gate and gave a checkride.

I can understand within the same days as you were scheduled to fly but why more days? I have a trip that ended at 1000 on July 3rd, why does the union think it's a good idea or even ok to add flying till 1pm on July 4th.

So if you want July 4 off why should you have to bid no flying 4 days prior to that day just so u don't get screwed because we gave up July as a 31 day month in the last contract.
LOL... sorry man, that's a laugh of commiseration... I found out myself few months ago why no one bids carryout trips. Yes, they can totally hose you. I think they can add a whole day. ABSOLUTELY if the end of the trip is early or good, they will tag on a turn or something. Now I have "avoid carryout trips" pretty high up on my bid. If I want something, I by-name it and ensure that if they add one day I can either dump the trip (not touching a weekend), or it's already a 4 day with sufficient flying on last day to not tweak.

I'd like to see significantly more value per vacation day and some sort of personal day pay or unused sick time rebate, etc. Doubt it'll ever happen though. We'll get a 6th week full of 3 hour days before we ever get anything resembling a reform of the current system.
Just about everything you type, I find I am in 100% agreement with. Sometimes when I have the page slid over on my phone, so I can see the text column but not who posted it, I will read your post and think, "I can't remember posting that, or using so many great adjectives... I must have had several good beers...man am I witty."

New long layover in DTW. I liked the last one, big hotel with lots to do in it... which was good as you didn't really want to go outside much. Weird, I read all sorts of new hotels in the recent memos, but they were all for places I don't go overseas... they neglected to mention DTW.

It isn't the Crowne Plaza is it?

The van driver 3 weeks ago pointed it out stating that we were gonna move there he suspected.

Exterior looked straight out of 1978. Several blocks away along the river. Not anywhere I'd be walking around much.

yep. someone will be along shortly telling you what a total security violation it is posting our layover hotel. As if anyone couldn't just stand at any airport curb for 15 min to identify what shuttle/bus took us to about 75% of our hotels. When the van driver in some foreign country, driving an unmarked beat-up van, wearing dreadlocks, sandals, and a wife-beater T-shirt, has to show us an actual ID before we jump in the van with him to go who knows where... THEN I will consider not laughing when someone seriously proposes this as a security risk.
You may not want to get all those PMs though.

Technically, I did not knowingly post the name as I have only hearsay knowledge .

However, if a mod would like to censor the name, go ahead. Can't edit it now. No prompt for it.
