OK... I am not going to pile on, because I am totally lost in this whole discussion. Since you were the one that brought it up initially, let me ax you what you meant by "efficient".

He was defining efficiency as block hours per pilot.

Nevermind how overstaffed we were in 2012 and the constant displacements churning around then...

Whatever he meant by it, apparently he meant it at the end of 2012.

Think of all the money they could save just on spare parts alone, not to mention all the DH'ing we wouldn't be doing any more.

"Inefficient" pilots means more pilot jobs.

But who's idea was it to operate all those different fleets?

Not the Pilots!

Management made "Inefficient" fleet choices, not us.

If we are not efficient, it's their fault, not ours. They created their own efficiency problems, now they expect us to fix it for them...??

But, given the last two airplane orders (A321's/A330's) it looks like Richard is moving to make the fleet more efficient going forward, replacing 757/767's with Aribii. I doubt we'll see any more new Boeings ordered. 10 years from now, we could be down to two or three (Airbus) fleets.

You're probably right... but don't forget that the 88s, 90s, and 717s will be flying until somewhere around 2050.

It's the White Engine Crowd

vs the Blue Engine Crowd

We may not be bigger but we do last longer.

Delta net has a story reporting that Emirates cancelled its A350 order worth 16 billion. Could be some serious discounts for Delta and early production slots if we went with the 350 instead of holding out for the re-engined A330NEO.

I saw that and I think it'll be interesting.

Someone said they saw a large A350 model in Delta colors over on the 4th floor.

I don't believe it til I see it myself, but if I see A350 painted on the ground anywhere then I believe that's what's coming.

It's all about the Benjamins! If Airbus will make Richard a deal, on both the 330 NEO, and/or those A350's Emirates just cancelled, I'm sure that's what he'll buy.

Every time he talks about Boeings, he mentions how expensive they are. If you recall, the ONLY reason he ordered the 739's was because Boeing dorked up the 787's and they "Owed Us" some money for being three years late on those. Richard swapped that 'money' for discounts on the 739's.

But what did he just order last week?

15 more A321's.

And what wide body did he just order?

Ten A330's.

He got the 717's cheap, same with the MD90's, but when was the last time he ordered a new, full price, Boeing?

Um...Never.
