This is getting ridiculous.
My Mother just sent me the audio of the Delta pilot talking to Atlanta ground. It disturbed her. She doesn't think somebody with obvious anger management issues should be flying passengers. She wants to know if its real. That thing is everywhere on the Internet. Mon Jacksonville news: Fifth story on local radio news at noon was tape of "Captain Happy" and how Delta is now investigating the "irate" behavior of one of it's captains. Third story on Yahoo news is tape of Captain Happy losing it after being "corrected" about going to the wrong "runway". Of course the press has many of the facts wrong, but it's more sensational the way they tell it. Unfortunately it has Delta's name all over it. This one time it isn't a contractor giving Delta a black eye. |

Delta1067,
I forgot to mention that you can green slip or white slip a trip over the payback days you used to drop a trip. Denny |
Our very own "Capt. Happy" is in the AJC today (although since they were taxiing it might have been the co-pilot):
WSB-TV – Atlanta ATLANTA — Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is looking into a tense exchange between a pilot and an air-traffic controller. According to WSB-TV – Atlanta, the exchange happened Friday when a controller told a pilot his plane was approaching the wrong taxiway. “Hey, you know what? We’ll taxi out there any way we want unless you tell us to. I don’t like your attitude,” the pilot said. “I don’t have an attitude; I’m just saying it looks like you joined Lima [a taxiway] instead of Mike [another taxiway], and I’m just trying to correct you before you stay on Lima,” the air-traffic controller responded. "Like, oh my God, there's another plane out there, like six miles away. Your attitude is really something, sir. We're out here on Mike. Good morning,” the pilot said. “Good morning. There was no attitude. I was just trying to correct you. That's my job to correct you if you mess up, and make sure everybody's doing what I ask them to do for certain reasons,” the air-traffic controller responded. “All right, I make a mistake every two to three minutes, but my attitude is not like yours. We're out on Mike, and you didn't tell us how to get there, so next time you can try doing that,” the pilot said. Another pilot on the same frequency can be heard telling the pilot, "Settle down, Capt. Happy." Delta says customer safety was never in question. |
Every time you stray from SOP, it's a potential front page news story.

"Settle down captain happy" is my new "lighten up Francis" catch phrase. And, I think I can use it in plenty of other situations too.

Well, in my "Close brush with fame" moment, looking at these guy's rotation I was surprised to see that they handed off a plane to me at an outstation later in their trip. That might explain why the Captain screamed "I don't like your attitude!" when I asked him how the jet was....
(Seriously though, I don't remember anything about them other than the standard 'pass in the jetway' banter. Neither was wearing long sleeves though, I woulda' remembered that.) |

Talk about overnight viral. The breakfast waitress at the layover hotel asked us about the "crazy Delta Pilot" this morning.
She said it was on Facebook. I hope Capt. Happy realizes what a major embarrassment he is for all of us. |

I understand not wearing long sleeves when you're not wearing the jacket, but wearing short sleeves with a jacket just screams that you're clueless about business dress. I absolutely never wear a suit without a long sleeve shirt. Is this some kind of Delta rule that you're an idiot if you wear long sleeve shirts with the jacket?

She said it was on Facebook. I hope Capt. Happy realizes what a major embarrassment he is for all of us. It was on the Today show too. Al Roker laughing. I didn't think it was all that big of a deal, a little spat, then over. And saying 'good morning'. Terse, but not berzerk, and not yelling. Not some cop billy clubbing some sorority girl. Total non event blown out of proportion by the press and the internet. I'm not sure if it wasn't edited from original content. It was the Capt. Happy remark by who knows who that gave it legs. |
