I agree that this does little for anyone except for the 50 or so guys that get the good deal.

My reps are fixing to get an earful.

THIS IS NOT OUR PROBLEM.

We have a contract that spells out exactly how to handle surpluses. How about we follow that contract for a change instead of re-writing it every time management wants "relief"?

If the company wants to get out of their contractual obligations then they need to pay us.

Allowing them to pay people out of seniority is a giant give-away.
EVERY pilot should get some benefit for allowing that and not just the few golden boys.

Most of us have been displaced and had to go to school. Some people several times. No offense, but why are 747 captains special?
Our PWA is written in pencil and management knows that all too well.

As do we, apparently. Witness the numerous LOAs to our benefit just prior to C2012, e.g., SOT, recovery, etc.

Carry on, Sir!! The more they hear from us, the better informed a decision they will be able to make. My reps say they are very concerned about the seniority aspect, but needed to consider as well the benefits to the 747 Captains that will not be displaced as a result of the ER.

I guess all that crap about huge retirements is a bunch of hooey then.

Look at the ATL 777 trips for October, BKK is there.

No sign of MNL...yet.

There has already been an early out program for pilots, a few years back. Not a single 777 Capt. took one. I doubt if we'd see very many go under this new (rumored) incentive program, maybe only if they were already within the 37 weeks of age 65.

But the cash incentive just isn't big enough to draw anyone out, who's already pulling in over $30K month by flying 100 hrs/mo plus greenslips. I seriously doubt many 747 guys will take it either, unless they are 64.5 now.

How many pilots on our list are 64.5 today? That's about the only demographic that would be interested in this program, and I doubt many of them will come off the 747, unless they are in the bottom 25 (who will be displaced) and don't want to go to school for a pay cut.

You want to provide input? What for? Richard and Ed already briefed us.

The deal is done.
Shut up and color.

Or as DALPA says:

I keep hearing that we are going to be having a bunch of retirements coming up, yet this solves a problem that is supposedly manifest in displacements and stagnation.. 50 guys... stagnation? big retirements? The math don't work.
