Airline Pilot Central Forums - Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

I'm not even in the top 1/2 of my NB category and am also a 2001 hire. I have moved backwards every bid except last one (moved up one spot) since Fall of 2011. I always thought growth and advancement would mean moving up in one's category. I was mistaken and am clearly venting.

I hear you. As an early 2000 hire I am in the same boat - the "USS Stagnation." :D What equipment in ATL?

But remember in my post I said 2000 and 2001 hires and I also said it was seat/category specific.

Edit: looks like about 160 new hires have been placed on the ATL M88b position. A 2001 hire may have only moved up 20 numbers but his relative position should have improved far more with the category 20% larger.

Definitely seat and category dependent. MSP is a stagnate pond. Since the merger, I've moved up and down all within +/- 1-2% of the middle and will have 15 years before the end of this year. Just another data point.

The company will not add captain positions going into the fall. They do this every year with every higher paying position. They keep it lean and flex up the summer. Delta staffs airline seasonally.

Do we really staff the west coast ( LAX SLC SEA ) with 1261 pilots out of 12000?

Am I missing something?

thanks to C2012 they may have added more Captains for their new CRJ900s then we added Captains to mainline.

Does anyone know the rule for sliding a vacation toward a major holiday? Can the slid vacation only be within one day or two days of the holiday? Specifically, I am trying to slide an early Nov vacation to later in the month. Where is this info? I can't find it in the vacation section of the PWA.:mad:

C2012 mainline growth??? The growth is due to Delta's decision to add aircraft. Although we will never know for sure, I strongly suspect that much of that growth would have happened one way or the other.

I agree with the above. The growth is due to a increase in block hours and retirements but that is pretty much what drives all growth. The interesting thing is that this all started just 11 months ago. As retirements start to increase and some widebodies arrive it will accelerate.
