Several frequent posters can't seem to help themselves though. That fish is always THIIIIIIIIIIIIISS BIG!! The comments just make a mess of things and accomplish nothing :( http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/9-30-2013/tavQcf.gif |

Don't even waste your time putting in GS with conflict. In 5 years at Delta I have only seen a few ever given out. It means they pull your scheduled trip with pay and then give you a GS on top of it. Has to be the perfect storm in place and then they will go very senior.

I always advise people that life is too short and you can't get the time back. Greenslips are just not worth it.
I tell them that in the hopes the greenslips will get to my seniority. $10,000 to miss trick or treating? Please. For $10,000 I'd dress up like Mr. Monopoly and pelt my kids with Mars Bars and Kandy Korn on my way to the airport. Nobody on their death beds wishes they had more time to trick or treat. They want more booze, chicks and rock music. That takes money and the best way to get that money is greenslips. |

Offered a 12dy gs at beginning of the year that coincided with a 5dy pvr mini-vacay. Told spousal unit that it would pay about 33K and asked what she thought... She responded "have a nice trip... we'll let you know how pvr is!" :D

Money is more important to your wife than going on vacation with you. To me the amount is irrelevant, but what do I know?
I know with even a third of a 33K GS I could plan a pretty amazing vacation. |

You would be amazed how much something as little as trick or treating means to a toddler. Where do you draw the line? Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries? Serious question. Do you live to work or work to live? I work to live. Days off are just too precious especially with young kids. Now when the kids are older and in college my attitude might change. Certain things in life are priceless. That means that I wouldn't trade those moments for any amount of money. I am obviously in the minority. I probably fly less than the majority of the pilots at this company.

Seniority is king. My green slip today I was able to drop of my kids off at school and then pick them up at the bus stop. I have no problem with working some extra days for some extra cash once in a while. My single mother worked 6 days a week when I was a kid and I knew she hated missing certain days with me but on the flip side I learned to appreciate her for her work ethic and learned life is not easy. |

The LAX 73N Category has a trip that signs in day 1 at 22:40 flies 1 red-eye leg, lays over 23:25, returns on the morning of day 3 at 11:00.
This trip operates daily. It used to be in open time almost every day - I am curious to see what happens in November. Like Buzz said - the 5:15 is a huge improvement for us LAX guys. Scoop Cheers George |
