So the truck driver is done at his max day (14 hours, not extendable), while we can go up to 16 hours (and the company can assume we'll extend to the max day) unless we actively tell our employers we don't want to extend?

That's embarrassing.

See if you can call the Westin in the airport and get the Delta rate for her. May cost you 25 more then off airport but worth it if the wife is stuck.

I filled it out and have urged others to do the same. But "others" absolutely will be attempting to decide for you. Donatelli saw what worked for O'Malley and he will use the exact same template. The MEC administration will completely ignore the survey and draw up an opening position that they feel best meets the requirements of ALPA/management. They will of course never release the survey results or the opening position. Our reps will give direction and it too will be ignored and a TA signed. The reps will then be dared to vote NO under the threat of all out collapse of the "union's" internal structure. The reps will cave in to the pressure. Then we members will face the same threat as our reps.

That is the definition of others deciding for us. The only open question is whether we members will accept yet another minimalist contract that costs our wildly profitable company almost nothing extra. If we do, we deserve what we have...which is the best union representation that management can pay for.

Try driving a big rig for 8+ hours in a day and you will be beyond fatigued. Been there done that. No auto pilot and it's all hands on.

Dare I say it? Pot, meet kettle.

We can extend to 16 hours with two pilots and only if we start our day between 0700 and 1159. Our max duty days go down from there as far as 11 hours. The truck driver is a solo operation with a 14-hour max day, regardless of when he starts.

Still embarrassed?

Anyone know how to list for jumpseat on American? I went to myIDTravel and selected the flight, but the only choices it gives me is R1 confirmed and R2 Standby, nothing about commuting pilot.
NVM found it on the DALPA website.

Where'd you find it. I'm eyeballing as well and can't seem to track it down.

I do a lot of long haul driving in my pickup truck, 10 hour legs, plus stops, with a 3 horse trailer behind it, and you are correct, it is very fatiguing! I HATE the nitwits out there zig sagging through traffic, and tying to get past the Winnibego's, etc.

BUT... I'm only 3 feet off the ground and only going 70mph, oh and I can pull over at any exit/rest area and grab another Red Bull!
