Depending on how important it is to get Christmas off, APD's go before PD's and if the numbers are blue they will not limit the APD. If the numbers are close, then most likely someone senior to you will get a PD before you and the numbers will go even before it gets to you. Then your PD will be denied and your swap will also be denied sticking you with a Christmas trip.
So, if you have an APD you can use it and you will go before everyone requesting a PD or a swap. Good way for a junior guy to drop Christmas. I've used that twice and been successful.

Disclaimer - I got no idea what Delta's going to do. But, I found a rumor / speculation thread with smarter than average participants (ie, one has "Managing Director" as a job title). Scott Hamilton has an inside track at Boeing and FWIW, he says, "No 777, no 787-10." Even if Delta were looking at used 777's, Boeing's role in ongoing certification and support would likely mean it would be on Mr. Hamilton's radar if it were likely.

New hire Delta Pilot here...
Is it too early to try to drop December trips? Seems like I'm unable to access the reserve levels for December... or I'm doing it wrong, which is typical.
Thanks,
MCFlyer

Dec bids are first worked the morning of the 20th at 7am. To access the Dec rsv levels go to icrew>open time, fill in base>equip>Pos>bid period, then select Pilot Rsv Levels. Welcome to DeltaNet

Yup, I was doing it wrong... Interesting how they're already below the required reserve numbers for late December.
Thanks for the info!

It does make sense to go with the 330NEO, if only from a commonality standpoint, and that doesn't include the engines, of course. It sounds like we are looking for direct replacements for the 7ERs, but I guess the elephant (or whale) in the room is what's going to replace the 747's? Or are we going to downgage a lot of that service onto existing 777's and 330-300's (or -900's if they are the NEO)? We should have our answer soon. Certainly the recent developments in the Japanese economy would point towards a non Tokyo based Asia operation. I've heard from fairly good sources that the plan is to get a JV with Korean Air and eventually someone in China. We'd only need to fly to their hubs then and wouldn't need the range or the payload of anything bigger than a 330, and we could move all the cargo on their big widebodies.
Where does one bid the Golden X days?
Thanks
Thanks
