There's no pro-rated guarantee as a line holder?

Thanks for any insight.
In your situation I would contact the union ASAP. Lots of contract questions are asked here but the answer often is incorrect. You can also go to the union website and post the question on the contract board where you will get a QA'd answer. Normally I would expect them to place you on reserve and pay you the reserve guarantee. Again however call 800-USA ALPA and ask for contract admin tomorrow.

Does not the bolded mean pilots hired in 2001? I was in the first class of 2001 and not a single member of my class was ever a captain at Express. Had he said 96-2000 hires. I would agree to that statement.

I was a JAN 01 hire. What I said was, as a JAN 01 hire, I was only just able to hold a line at Express by August. Even if 9/11 hadn't happened, the economy was slowing down and the hiring was stopping. I had a buddy who had his August interview cancelled because of it. Turned out to be the best thing that happened to him.

This I totally agree with.

You're forgetting that we always need White House support, and that didn't matter one bit to Anderson when he forcefully came out against Obamacare 3 years ago.

Anderson believes in this immigration law revision. It has nothing to do with currying favor with political prostitutes because Anderson has money. Money is all you need when buying political prostitutes.

You guys are making this more complex than reality dictates. Anderson likes this immigration policy. Anderson dislikes Obamacare. Period.

Maybe not too long before the ground equipment is labeled in Spanglish.

Again I said during our last big hiring cycle, which was 96-01 and yes you were a part of it, guys were upgrading to Captain at Express in about 18 months. You were part of the cycle, but not part of the cycle that it pertains to. That does not mean that everyone in the cycle made Captain in that amount of time. The good thing now is that eveyone from that hiring cycle can now hold Captain, if they choose to commute to NYC. My time to first Captain opportunity was 13 years 9 months.

Keep in mind that Express CA paid about the same as a 727 copilot at the time. Guys may have held CA in 18 months but it was all about pay. Regular Captains seats were around 12 years at the time.

I don't understand why guys hold up express captain as a truly legitimate upgrade for this reason. Yes, it's an upgrade, and yes, you're the captain, but money and time off determine what your seniority can hold. (Despite the fact that for a long time, express captains were making serious bank with their GSWC campaign). The sunshine operation was a concession and should be viewed as a c-scale IMO.

Worse than that, the cockpits and manuals. That's what this is about. There are no plans to raise wages for our profession at the entry level. None. The plan is using foreign nationals who will fly for peanuts. I was on a GoJet flight recently and both pilots' PA's were completely unintelligible (one Spanish, one Chinese).

I can see a day when I complain to a chief pilot about my FO not speaking the language, and that chief pilot telling me that I'd better up my game in my bilingual skills.
