I guess AE results can vary widely depending on where you sit. Despite 717a in NYC going well junior to me, I managed to move backwards as an ATL 320b.

While that can always happen, even a 777A can move backwards if some guys bid in above him, the bids have gotten a lot better recently.
With all the new metal coming on line and with tons of new hires it should get even better. Lets just hope that pesky black swan does not put in an appearance.

Same conclusions. However, you can use a FSA, similar to an HSA in that it is pre tax dollars. Which you can then use for just about ever medical expense (dental/med copays, glasses, scripts, etc). Based on your tax situation, can work out to about 30% savings on anything you pay.
Gotchas:
- This is my first year, I could be completely wrong
- Seems like a bit of a pain to use as you have to file a claim for each use (it's all online, but still)
- You can only put a certain amount in, $2500/yr I think
- It's a spend or lose kind of thing, while you can carry $500 forward to next year, anything else unspent is lost.
As far as tricare, I use standard for it's flexibility (family has been on standard for years). As long as I spend less than 1600ish a year on healthcare, it's cheaper than prime. Either way, the FSA will help lesson the blow.
Feel free to shoot holes in my theory.

Quick question about the surface tablet...is Windows RT capable of making Remote Desktop connections? I use a VPS for my business and I am tired of carrying my laptop and an IPad every trip...not to mention that now I'll be carrying a third device with the surface. I haven't received mine yet and am curious about RDC capability.
It might not be a good idea to do anything like this on a Delta owned device anyway. If I like the surface, I might need to hire Bucking Bar to buy me a surface 3 with his "extreme couponing/price matching wizardry" to eliminate the need for my laptop and make room for my surface.
Not you guys, I'm talking about other people. I kid, I kid.

Delta hasn't locked down the Microsoft Store, which does have VPN, VPS & VM software available. Further, the Surface 2 appears to do surprisingly well with it's RT version of Office and it has plenty of storage space.
It appears to me Delta may have locked us out of Bluetooth tethering ... so I am not sure what else may have been disabled. YMMV
The problem is that you will have your secure content locker password (DL Pilot) and a password for your personal account and your requisite Delta email password and perhaps another e-mail password and then if you want to get something from the MS Store (even a free download) you will need to set up that account with a password. If you set up your Delta e-mail it requires a new DL Pilot password. What nobody seems sure of is which passwords reset the account passwords for the device and DL pilot. Worse, whatever you come up with has to meet Delta's password criteria, plus capitalization. Miss the sign on password 10 times and your device is "bitlocked" which requires a 50 character code to unlock, IF Delta can find the code ... and of course if you don't have your password, it locks again after 10 tries. The answer for everyone I've talked to has been "new device" since there is no remote password reset capability at this time. DeltaNet has memos ... they know about the issue.
So, if you go down that road just be forewarned to be very careful with remembering your passwords. Still worst case you brick your device, get a new one and have to waste a few hours getting it all updated and set up.
I managed to get mine out of bitlock. So far, mine is the only successful return from password purgatory that I've heard of.

Plan A ... could find yourself a cheap Black Friday Surface Pro or Pro 2 and carry it with the Surface 2. Use the Surface 2's power cover on both devices and use your Pro's charger (48W) on both devices and your phone. (I like the smaller form factor and just plug it into the TV or Monitor and use a BT keyboard if I want bigger ... Display Port to HDMI cables are $7)
If you decide not to carry your Pro, then plug it into a TV at home and use it for your Home Theater hub. It crunches through 1080 content like buttah.

You will not know bureaucratic fury until somehow, someway tricare finds out you have an FSA as "other insurance" cause the government says hey, we always pay second whenever there is other insurance. Tread very carefully and discreetly. Just ask a person who has tricare and a spouses insurance policy even for one month, Tricare will never let go.
Thanks for the response, hadn't thought of that aspect. Have you had an issue with FSA? I know exactly what you mean about spouse insurance, my [very limited] knowledge of this whole thing made me think FSA totally different issue. Plz PM if that's better.
Thanks again

I had a quick question for you guys. I was filling out an app for Delta and came to the addendum section, and was a little stumped on how to proceed on one section of it.
Have you ever been convicted of any felony, misdemeanor, infraction, offense of other violation on any law?
So my question is if I had a couple of tickets and I put those under my Driving record section, do you have to click yes here and then put your tickets again?
Thanks again in advance

I said yes, and just annotated "Previously listed moving violations" in the addendum. The panel was fine with that (hired).
Can you white slip a spill over trip that would go into vacation in the following month? What are the outcomes?
LOL, no. You can't WS a trip that has a conflict with something not "droppable" like training and vacation.
You CAN WS a trip with a conflict in the next month, and if there is coverage it will drop the next month's trip WITHOUT PAY protection... lots of guys surprise themselves with this.

IMO, the shuttle operation is what will drive the schedules, as the product will have better logistics without crews flying in to perform the flying. I am told, back in the day, the crews loved the shuttle because they were home a lot at night and no layovers. Of course, everyone lived there, so…..
Maybe I am wrong, but my guess is that December will not be as "anomalyish" as people hope.

You need to remember that a lions share of the flying of the NYC 717 is going to be shuttle, so there will be a good many 1 day trips. They are going to get "see America" trips but I wouldn't imagine it's going to be in the next couple of months.
Why do you think the category went so junior. Once it stabilizes more senior guys will be bidding the category, which is another reason to hold off for a little bit. I don't know how many times I've heard guys complain about being a reserve guy when they jumped on the first bid and could hold a line only to get bumped back on every bid after that.
Here is a little bit of trivia for you guys. Marking the regular line holder only box on a bid does not guarantee you a line all year round. Because we have seasonal high times and down times you may only get a line during the summer months.

A minimum staffing for one shuttle takes about 30 crews, so until you are up to that as active in base, it will be a more piecemeal operation... Add the DCA Shuttle back in and you will be talking 60+ in each seat just to operate shuttle (not that I think DC shuttle is coming back to mainline, but you never know). Who knows if they will staff for shuttle flying and then build up for "see America" or just cobble it together until it's all viable for the base.
Congrats to 10,302..... Enjoy your BOS and Kew Gardens layovers!
