I'm trying to do a swap with the pot. I'm swapping a trip later in Aug with any one of 4 trips earlier in Aug. Currently I have 4 separate swaps in, but can I do them in one? Will the system look at the first one I want then roll into the second I want etc. Or, did I do it right with 4 independent requests?

Ferd,

I think you did it the right way. With the 4 independent one's, once you get one, it makes the others NA.

There will never be a solid base table at FOX.

Their retirement went from a 60% FAE plan to a 6 % DC plan. Large employee segments were moved to part time. Other groups simply had their jobs eliminated or moved to DGS.
The second is stating how little we cost. Pilot costs have historically run from 6 to 10 percent of the cost to produce our product. You will not find anyone who has ever run a business call that little especially in view of the fact this is a industry with many fixed costs.
When you start this campaign management will simply state that Delta pilots are the best compensated pilots in the US passenger airline industry. The rest will fall to the NMB. What is your plan for them.
Sailing,

What do you realistically think the pilot group should expect? As far as pure compensation increase based on not working more hours per month/year.

A lot of angst for a Friday morning, gents. Are we hitting the Torpedo early this weekend?

If you're watching either of those networks (or any news on TV) you're being fed garbage. It just depends if you want red or blue garbage...

Two legs of the same animal.

I was a history minor in college (biz major because the USAF wasn't taking pu$$y liberal arts degrees) and am now an arm chair historian.

One interesting little ditty from the 1850s is that political parties actually owned newspapers and of course slanted the stories their way. Then as now, people only read what they already agreed with.

As any historian will tell ya, the more things change the more they remain the same

Sad state of affairs when RT.com has better information regarding our government than we can ever get stateside.

Honestly I don't know what is achievable. When you look at the 2013 pilot cost numbers they don't help us a bit. Not one other airline has stepped up since 2002 and done anything. There are also a lot of varibles yet to be determined. The obvious big one is the political landscape. That is why we have a lot of smart people working for us. I already put a post up on how the process works. We will have to feel out the NMB and then make a judgement on how much political pressure we can bring upon them when needed. We will have to look at future projected earnings. Perhaps most important of all will be providing a road map of how we anticipate a new contract forcing other airlines to our level.
Asking for a minimum of 20% up front would end talks at that point. Management will simply ride the process. It will be a long and bumpy ride for us and we won't be allowed off the wagon until the NMB views us as being reasonable. RA is a smart man and understands costs as well as anyone. He would never allow his costs in any area to get that far out of control.
What I want in the end is somewhat irrelevant. I can tell you this however. A 3 year contract that provides a 20% increase in compensation over the 3 years without any degradation in work rules along with a 2% bump in retirement will ratify easily if it's done by the amendable date. Flame away!
