We elected our Reps. We have known the VA TA was being worked on for a year and have had ample opportunity to provide input. The Reps directed the negotiators and the negotiators negotiated the language which is being considered by our MEC.

We have no reason to believe the MEC is (or has authority to) make post agreement modifications to the language. This isn't a bill in Congress. It is negotiation with management.

Do you not trust that your Reps and your MEC, who are all line pilots, fought for more wide body flying? Did you fail to notice Delta's wide body RFP was decided in a way that provides growth just about the same instant an agreement was reached on the TA?

I have no idea if any of these facts correlate and outside of a properly small group of people who have access to Delta's strategic business plan, none of us knows. I'd love to have an intelligent debate on the merits of this agreement, but neither of us has the data, yet.

The Negotiating Committee will eventually publish a notepad document. Until we read that document there is a lot of factual data we just don't yet have.

What we do know is that we elected the best candidates and we all agree on wide body protection and growth. We know that management respects a negotiating team who has the full support of their pilots.

The Dude supports his MEC and negotiators. It is in our mutual best interest to empower our MEC.

------------

In other news, if anyone is looking for a good pilot watch, here is a deal:

Hamilton Khaki Aviation H64514581 Men's Watch

Same movement as the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Chronotimer and a couple of their F1 watches. Hamilton is a Swiss company now, but was the supplier to the US military through WW2 and has a rich history. They bought a Swiss watchmaker and eventually the organization moved.

... anyway, high end thermo-compensated Sapphire watch for low end Seiko money.
Sorry man, when the machine goes out of its way to keep information from the masses (past opener term sheets, old survey results, this LOA), there's something wrong. Trust and empower, but VERIFY. There is NO honest downside to sharing the data.

You've now been fully assimilated Bar. As someone who's read your posts for years now, it's hard to believe how much you've changed.

There is nothing against "the process" about letting all pilots view the LOA and provide input before it becomes a binding change to our Scope. Running amok? Really?

This illustrates the divide within our LEC reps. Some reps agree with the Bucking Bar theory that once negotiations begin, the reps are done with the process except for their guaranteed ratification of whatever is brought to them by the negotiating committee. These people literally believe the reps have no authority to do anything else. I wish there was a way to know how many ATL line pilots believe this as well.

What good does fighting do if our MEC has no role in the process once the MEC administration (negotiating committee) starts negotiating? According to you and the four ATL reps, fighting for proper direction prior to negotiations is all they can do. Their only role afterward is to ratify whatever the negotiating committee brings them. Anything else shows disunity and mistrust of the negotiators.

I did notice that Bar. I've also read (and posted) every word of the TA. The TA allows management to be out of compliance by an unlimited percentage, and be fully and legally forgiven if they're back in compliance the following year. Then the same cycle is allowable the next year.

I guess we've just found out what we had to give up in order to gain the promise of shiny new jets.

Thanks Carl for keeping us fired up! I encourage everyone to weigh in with your reps to ensure Delta pilots keep/gain widebody flying!

Not to mention the capacity dumper LCC's and future Ponzi scheme start ups will go ballistic.

Exactly. We have more oil than they do and its too late to stop it. Even if the pipeline never gets approved we can still crush them. The pipeline just makes it easier for us. The real battlefront are the domestic enemy politicians that want to shackle us to one sides pro-foreign government laws/treaties like the recent one with China. We reduce almost immediately around 30% and they get 15 years to grow unlimited. Nice one from the Alinsky mafia.

I may not agree with everything you say but this I do 100%! This is my biggest issue with ALPA, transparency. If DALPA wants to bring the DPA supporters back into the fold and create unity they have to stop with this type of action.

Anyone want to take a guess on profits and profit sharing for this year, 2014?

I just received the DPA crew van news and they had a prediction of 5 billion and a profit sharing percentage of 24%. Last I had heard was about 4 billion and 16%.

Thoughts or rumors anyone?

Edited to clarify 2014
