They state that they will be allowing apps to be updated but the lawyers have ADDED the verbiage that they will not be reviewing them until hiring.
Still a marked change is that you can now update. Add to it pilots have been able to fill out new ones.
I will not add to conjure, but the simple fact is that there is a slight change to the wording on here. It was tweaked again this last week to kill some of the excitement that was created.
Simple facts. We have no hiring department. No one is employed by our hiring department, and we have not officially started accepting anything.

Ok. Back to me making giant leaps.....
--All SLC MD-90's going to MSP.
--SLC flying to be replaced mainly by increased flying and not nearly as many MSP 320's as initially thought.
....to me this means that MSP is about to get alot bigger. From what I've seen of MSP over the years, they are way worse at handling traffic as compared to DTW. Can the airport really handle this? Does this mean:
--Less RJ flying out of MSP or
--Shifting some of the 320 flying to MEM and DTW or LGA?
As ACL says: I'm just trying to connect the dots.

S Dickson (Senior VP Flight Ops) and G Wilbur (Crew planning) came by the crew room in ATL today. I won't go into what was said since none of it was earth shattering and mirrors what has been said here. There were a few things of note I found interesting, a couple which pertain to things discussed on the last few pages of this thread:
1. The Taxiway M incident: As mentioned, ASAP accepted the incident so these guys are going to be back flying soon, if not already. What was interesting is that they looked back at previous reports (CORs, etc) and found numerous cases where flight crews had lined up on taxiway M under similar environmental conditions thinking they were lined up with the runway. For a variety of reasons, this crew, unfortunately, didn't catch the error and brought the approach to its completion.
2. The company is planning on a big uptick in narrow body flying (DC-9, MD88, 73N and A320). While the SLC M90 base is going to MSP, Wilbur said the plan is that there won't be a big displacement of MSP 320 to SLC. Rather, those SLC 320 slots will be filled by the increase in narrow body flying. IOW, the MSP 320 base won't shrink as much as one might think, which would reduce the ripple down effect a MD has on the system.
3. According to Dickson, for now the 9 MD90s we got from China are considered "growth" aircraft. The DC-9-30s and -40s will be gone by the end of 2010.
4. Network has now predicted a 7% increase in summer peak flying v. last year. That puts staffing at just the right levels, Dickson said. Someone asked about the new proposed duty regs and he said it was too early to tell until they get the final regulation, but he thought it would probably be a wash staffing wise. If anything, it might require an extra 100 bodies or so, but nothing substantial. Nothing I heard made me think we need 1700 new pilots, so I'm still not sure where that rumor is coming from.

I thought it was a one for one swap of -90s to MSP and 320s to SLC. The 9 more confirmed -90s coming by end of 2010 and increased ute rate on the aircraft to drive minimum displacements in both locations. ?? Guess we'll find out when the MOAB hits. The company would be wise to configure this MFOAB to have as few displacements as possible. Hopefully for those in MSP they'll use the -90 like they did in DFW. Great trips with minimum legs.
1700 is the if the rest rules change right? 100 probably needed would be a great start, because if its anything like 2007, 100 will grow to 400 or more. But, is there a number thats being batted around? 100?
But that second post from Hawaii, how legit is the thought that a MOAB would be the determinant of hiring such that if there are a lot of MDs then lets hire to mitigate the cost and staffing issues?
Anotherwords, we hear a mass AE is coming, say December. After its run lets pretend they determine 1200 pilots need to be MD'd especially into the narrowbodies, then what? Hire 300 into the narrowbodies and lessen the number MD'd and live with shortages? Is that plausible?
and fwiw, the blood loss was tremendous
Does anyone else see the correlation between Tennessee getting spanked by Ole Miss, and the forum server going down?
Ts. Come on dude, I know it was you.
Happy Sunday, gentlemen. It will be a good one for me because my Bears can't lose today. (They already lost twice last week.)

As a former student of the illustrious University of Mississippi, I can attest to the "southern charms" spoken above. There is no place like it. One, literally, has to look to find an unattractive co-ed. Having aquaintences from numerous institutions of higher learning, I invited them on several occassions to frequent the hospitality of The Grove. They we stunned by the shear volume of Delta Burks running around. Maybe with this being said, I can better come to grips with my early departure from this hollowed place of southern gentility under academic probation. Ole Miss will forever hold a special place in my mind.
