You mean the Auburn girls? Can't blame you. Even the... softball ones... can be hot.

But F1 racing was on and then NASCAR hung a left all night.

And being this is an anonymous board I feel as if I can be rather open about one thing... cheering for Cleveland. I mean I like the Hawks and everything about them this year and what they accomplished. And I've only seen 1 game. But I followed them on the news. I'd love for them to win, but it's Atlanta, Atlanta rarely wins anything. Cleveland never wins anything.

Love the Hawks, but go cavs.

Well, believe it or not, when you are a senior captain making over $300k per year as an hourly employee, pay raises are not necessarily your only focus. Non taxable income, tax advantaged income, and benefits such as vacation and medical insurance become more important than "25% plus 1/1/16". As the majority of pilots approach retirement I hope our contracts will reflect those priorities.
I wouldn't know, I've only got 30 years.

I believe we can and should have both the hourly rates and things you describe.

Our execs over our careers have outpaced our gains year after year. They are pround of what they bring to the party. What happened to us?

We are begging and making concessions to attain hourly rates that are 11 years old with no inflation.

Our medical benefits are an insulting joke.

This is our time and another single with an error is not acceptable.

I'm hoping for the best.

It is highly unlikely you are making that cash as a 717A, but your points are valid. Just don't back the bus over everyone else twice.

As a matter of fact, now, based on that statement I'm not even sure you work here. Not that it actually pertains to the subject.

No, I made $278k. But if I made that on our lowest paying equipment Im sure our more senior captains made $300k or better.

My point is that we have a very senior pilot group with the majority approaching retirement age. That is going to flavor the next couple of contracts. And pay % may not be at the top of everyones wish list. And I doubt those approaching retirement are going to want to drag out negotiations for many years entertaining unreasonable contract demands from the just say NO crowd.

So yes, the time value of money is more important the older you are I would say.

Not that I am not NASCAR fan but that pitcher from Arizona St tonight on the mound.... Well, she was not you typical softballer if you catch my drift?

The 500 would have been way better if Will Powers had won, did you see what his wife did to that plastic bottle she was chewing on?

Ah, there it is. The ubiquitous ALPA straw man argument. The "just say no crowd." Hint: that crowd is growing exponentially every day.

And it's stunning how fast ALPA went from promising an "historic" contract to dispatching messengers here to tell us that if we vote down a crappy TA, we have "unreasonable contract demands."

I'm happy to wind the clock and cash profit sharing checks until RA figures it out. I'd wager many of "those approaching retirement" will be just fine doing the same.

The company tried to buy low and sell high with the PS payments. It backfired. Now, it is looking like (for the second contract in a row) we are going to be tricked into buying high and selling low.

For another thread, but it's an American problem. Paying shareholders and execs ludicrous amounts of money is fine (even during no profits).....but giving a fraction of ONLY THE PROFITS to employees is not cool.

So personally, I don't care what wall st thinks about our PS. Actually I don't think they care about it as much as the union and mgt want you to think they care about it. But I understand it is a concern.
All fair points. I can't argue with any of it, and believe it or not, I really have no desire to do so. Thanks for a mature response.
