Yes. I've thought about that for years now.

Oct.

His dad got him and his buddy in class as a "test" to see if they could get low time guys through the E-120 program. Both those guys had like 270 hours and were trying to get hired as instructors at Hooks the month before his dad said, "let's see how this works out."

He was a good dude though. I wish my dad had strings to pull.

I had heard they didn't let instructors commute. Further more, with the scheduling is it relatively easy to do if so? Thanks for the insight.

There are quite a few commuters, actually- particularly on the 320. You have to have a crashpad, though. Our planner is pretty good at building schedules to the way each person likes it (commuters, me being the night owl, some guys being early risers, and so on).

It's a minimum of 17 events a month- you can do doubles. I've done up to 22 (I live local) and oooh wee was that too much! The paycheck was very good though... I currently live an hour northeast, but am soon moving to the north side of Decatur. The shortened commute will be very welcomed! You get paid the largest equipment you can hold in your seat, or if you can hold captain, it's 777B pay.

Flying is way easier than teaching and less work, though... you've got to be super engaged for the entire time and it is more days worked. I'm flying in December and cannot wait!

Got a quick question. I'm on reserve tomorrow and Monday (last two days of the month). I'm a line holder next month and I have Tuesday off. Scheduling assigned me a three day trip for tomorrow which has me flying on my day off. I know the PWA allows them to assign the trip, so that's not my question. Where I'm confused is whether I get a payback day or not? I find it odd that I just lose the day off. What if I had something important scheduled that day? Am I missing something? I've read Section 23 several times but I can't find the answer to my question. Any ideas?

You won't get a payback day, but you should get paid GS pay for the time you fly on the day off. If it is a credit trip, you will also get GS pay for the credit since they pay that out based on the day the trip ends.

My understanding: you do NOT get any sort of PB day; you DO get pay & credit (in Dec) for the portion flown on the 1st (to include any trip credit, always paid on last day).

I had this happen to me a couple years ago. Exact same scenario. It's not a great deal for us... The short answer to your question is, no, you don't get a payback day. Reason: It isn't an X or * day they violated. It's just a "blank" off day.

I don't know what your trip looks like or how it pays but unfortunately you may not even get paid very much for it. In my scenario I only got about 2 hours of pay for the day they violated. Trust me, it was right... If you don't mind, what are the details of the trip? Or more importantly, what does your timecard for December say you'll get paid?

Most guys think you'll get at least 5:15 for that day and that is not true. The trip only has to pay 5:15 per day "average", but if the first two days pay a lot, that third day doesn't have to pay anything.
