Just curious, how long ago was your upgrade? I’m 2 years since the upgrade award and 18 months since conversion. Haven’t heard a peep about in command class....

Takes some people 30-36 months from conversion to get into the class. Just depends. Guess they like to have a breadth of experience of first-time Captains.

Monthly bid

What does Min Credit do for me with regards to the LCW? For June I’m trying to maximize days off and happy to do it at the expense of hours. Does that accomplish that at all?

Thanks in advance. No computer access right now and too much time to think.

Set condition min Credit, if awarded, sets your personal LCW to the bottom half of the LCW. This would be ALV minus 7.5 to ALV. If you're senior enough and willing to accept an unconditional bid group, you could also try for an RLL line.

Just to clarify the RLL "option," you would only get an RLL if you opt for it (and you are at/above the "RLL Lim" published in the bid pkg for your category) in lieu of being awarded a reserve line and PBS cannot award you a regular line because there aren't enough rotations remaining in the pot to build you a line w/in the LCW.

In short, if you are sufficiently senior in your category, you won't be eligible for an RLL because there will be enough rotations left in the pot to build you a line within the LCW.

Transfer base

Base transfer only, say NYC to ATL, no change to category. Would one retain their previously assigned vacation dates?

If one so elected on their AE preferences, yes. (7.C.7.a)

And, fyi, a base transfer is a change in category. Category is defined as "the combination of a pilot’s position and base." (see 2.A.41 or 22.A.6 for reference).

I think you would keep your vacation even if you didn't select it on the AE bid. That selection is choosing to forgo pay protection by allowing pilots junior to you going to the same category to train ahead of you in order for you to avoid training over your vacation. Only switching bases requires no training, so the conflict could never exist.

7 C.7.a. just says you will retain the vacation
7 C.7.b.2. is the reference for choosing to retain a vacation on an AE bid when training is required

Yup....you are correct, thanks for clarifying. On your AE preference, you elect to (or not) retain vacation in lieu of qualification training thereby waiving any pay protection if a junior pilot is trained and converted before you because your qual training was pushed later in order to honor your vacation.
