Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I don't mind the current way you revert to LC unless escalated to SC.
I've sat both senior reserve and junior reserve- my biggest gripes are the fact that no credit is given for SC to the 5+15 "rig" as well as I think the 24 hour short call is ABSOLUTELY rediculous. Not only is it a total annoyance just thinking about it (I'm in a domestic category), but it is absolutely unsafe.

Although I though Johnso29 response a bit short, I agree. All that will happen is that senior pilots will bid the long call and the junior ones will end up on SC.
I just don't think it's fair to the junior people. I mean really - like 1/3 of the reserve pilots seem to be on SC each day. You're putting the bottom 1/3 of the reserve list on permanent short call. That kind of reserve is impossible to commute to.

Second, ther is nothing unfair about the junior pilots getting more difficult duty. If 1/3 can't commute to reserve, but 2/3 can, then you have an improvement over a system where none of the reserve pilots can cit long call at home, because SC are mixed in, in such a way that noone benefits. What's unfair to the junior 1/3 of Reserves is, even when they graduate to the top 2/3, life doesn't improve.
I think the idea has merit. Anything that creates subdivisions in the reserve system, for the benefit of using one's seniority, is a plus.

Some people have latched on to a cause a cause, raised awareness, then gotten traction via forums, and established themselves as credible candidates for office. I have no problem with it. Sounds like you have other issues with people running for office, sorry about that. If I run for office it will be in a few years, when I have more perspective on this company and can speak with greater authority on how our system works and where the flaws are.
Wasn't really a tantrum. I would have used emoticons and 'like' and 'not fair' a great deal had that been the case.

I worked at an airline that seperated LC and SC. Basically, the LC was #1 to be called for any trip and SC #last. That makes LC very uncommutable and SC just as uncommutable.
The current system is probably as close a system as I can think of that would allow things to be even among all reserve pilots while allowing there to be a maximum number of regular lines with minimal reserve. More regular line pilots means more white slips which replace the number of required pilots overall which probably is reason the company would never want to split LC and SC up.

Did you guys see Air Tran opened a second pilot and FA base in MKE? If its already been mentioned then forgive me, I was too lazy to look.

It has a cost, everything has a cost. I also said that the pilots and the MEC will have to decide where they want to put money in our contract when we get a better contract. Maybe it will be reserve, maybe it will be vacation, maybe pay, maybe any of the other items that exist in the contract. Maybe you will get your way and maybe you won't, that's how it works.
In regards to reserve, I would like to see a separate bid for short and long call. A short-call line could be worth, say 79 hours and a long-call line could be worth, say 75 hours or whatever the consensus thought was fair. I think this would go a long way to easing the negatives of reserve. It would also add a little seniority into the equation.

Why assume senior people would not bid it? I can sit SC from home. I'm less likely to be used for a flight in Open Time tomorrow if I'm on SC, therefore my burden would be to be ready more, but to fly less, for more money.

So what you're saying is that NO ONE can sit reserve at home under the current system?(commuters that is)
I know that to be a false statement, so it's really NOT an improvement over the current system.
