From an LA perspective, an AS merger is EXACTLY what LA needs, whether I survive or not. This place is ripe for the owning. Its a hodgepodge. SWA has made big inroads and then its all bastard stepchildren. Since we signed the codeshare with AS, our (DAL) presence has decreased, albeit it incrementally. Other than SWA, its a bunch of part-timers, DAL included. If we bring on AS, we will own the west coast. That's a good thing, in addition to everything else we do. I wholeheartedly support us bringing on the AS guys even if it means another painful integration. In the big picture, its the optimum solution for us. It'll be painful, again, for pilots and there will be the obligatory *****ing from both sides. But, it will further cement all that DAL is doing. In the long run, a good thing for us all.

Buzz, noticed my new PIC?

Well they mentioned the hiring, and they mentioned they are looking at the apps, so there you go! (See it was not BS)

They are aware of the MEH guys! They should hire all 425 of them if they want jobs.

Re. hiring, Chief Pilot said applicants should update their info every two months.

Well the AE went swell today (320 SLC B). The Rose Bowl not so much. Can't have everything I guess.

It appears they added about 20 Captains to the 7ER in NYC. They were not posted as bid positions. Wonder what changed?

My advice to all new pilots is skip getting a degree. Go to Compass or Mesaba and just flow up. A degree is for suckers.

I think it has to do with a few things Sailing. Bet they also added a few positions to ease the training footprint as well.
