For the most part the DCI guys are doing very similar flying to what the junior pilots on narrow body equipment at perform and in many cases, it is the exact same flying.
The captains at Mesaba that are currently eligible to flow are the most senior in the company...most of them with 10+ years on the property and a majority of that time as PIC. There was a time when Mesaba went through some rough times (they seem to be repeating at the moment) however the ones that left were mostly junior. At only 9 per month, I don't think there will be any issues with flow-through guys meeting Delta minimums as far as time requirements. Your other statement about the type of flying we do with respect to mainline is very accurate. Legs like DTW-SLC, MSP-DFW, SLC-SFO, etc have become the norm on the 900 at Mesaba. Having said all that, DCI as a whole will be shrinking and it has begun already. Despite that, many consider it a positive trend that its occuring there and not mainline. Hopefully when everything is said and done, things will be more favorable to most, if not all pilos concerned.

Tonyv,

When you are bidding for vacation you only have to pick the start date. If you want two weeks that start in September and go into October, just pick the week that starts as close to your desired day as possible. Then put a 2 in the next box to designate 2 weeks. Don't worry about the start date of the second week, it will be attached to your first week. It will be difficult to get a secondary vacation anywhere close to what you want if you as choosing a popular week. Most of the summer weeks and end of year weeks are gone after the primary vacation bids.

In the Vacation Bidding Guide from the MEC it states under Vacation Splits that weeks must be available to bid. For example, if you bid two weeks of vacation starting with week 10, both 10 and 11 must be available to be awarded.

Good luck!

No conference that has not a championship game is worthy of national championship. If your conference does not have that extra opportunity to step on it's.... toes... it doesn't belong in the picture. that being said, I couldn't care less whether we annoint somebody National Champion. I'm a purist when it comes to college football, and I just enjoy the games for the games' sake. Since I am junior in category, I have had little opportunity to enjoy much football this year, but at least I did get to watch the VaTech massacre.

Could someone please explain why there are 4 vacation bids? I read the vacation bidding guide and maybe I am missing a very simple concept. If I have 2 weeks of vacation and want one in summer and one in fall, do I bid 1 week on primary and one on secondary? Or do I bid both on primary????

exeagle,

If you want to split the 2 weeks, then you have to bid only for one week on the primary vacation bid. If you are senior enough or bid for a less popular week, you will most likely get that week. Then on the secondary bid, you will bid for the other week. As I stated before, you are less likely to get the week you want on the secondary.

I don't think Colt is man enough for her. She doesn't need a boy, she needs a man...a Delta pilot. It doesn't matter, north or south, she needs one of us.
