My point and super's point is that the plans aren't working as easily as advertised. There are a lot of hoops to jump through to get the plans to work as advertised. I agree with Super that our health plans need a lot of improvement. Delta brags about the premiums going down over the last couple of years, but I am guessing the quality has been dropping with it.

It's not the way it is supposed to work. I've never paid anything at the Dr. office or hospital - and my wife has been to the ER twice last year and had a baby on top of that. Because of the HRA, the hospital/Doctor is supposed to bill United Healthcare. They pay their portion, then HRA money (if you have any) pays the rest. The hospital or Doctor will will then bill you for the remainder.

Somewhere there is a document you can print out and give to the Doctor explaining how these plans have no co-pay.

Last year, I had the same situation when my daughter was being admitted for surgery. The hospital wanted me to write a check for $1000 to cover the deductible. I had the lady at the hospital call the number for UHC on the back of the card. I had already explained to her about HRA dollars, but she had never heard of it. Anyways, after the hospital talked to UHC, I never paid a cent. The HRA dollars were put towards the deductible.

This probably would take more work than crying about this to anyone who will listen, but maybe they should get off their behinds and put in some work if this is a cause they believe in.

I am not in the MEM base but based on what I have seen I wouldn't elect those guys dog catcher. They are whiners and bad leaders, in my humble opinion.

First of all , it's not his fund ( He is a trustee of that fund). The fund was set up when a in memory of 3 children who where killed in a traffic accident of a former NWA pilot. Since the south reps did not know anything thing at all about it (happened in 2004) he wanted 15 mins of face time to explain the program to the reps (both North and South) so ALL Delta pilots could participate and have a chance at Scholarship money. Moak would NOT let them address the MEC. Why? I think getting the word out that FREE Money is potentially available is a GOOD IDEA!

I can see how these BAD MEM reps need to be voted out (in your humble opinion, of course).

The other thing going against me was the fact that I NEVER RECEIVED A HEALTH CARD!!!! I called UHC to be told I had to go on-line and request one. I went to do that, but the website was temporarily down for 3 days. Unfortunately, my appointment was within those 3 days. I finally received a card in the mail a few days ago after requesting one on-line. The whole process is frustrating. I should have had one sent to me before January 1st without doing anything. The processes are not working as advertised. I stand by that.

You can print the cards online - the printed ones look just like the one you got in the mail.

If you search DeltaNet for "Healthcare Provider Letters", click on the first search result and read there, there are two different letters you can print out and take to your Doctor's office or the hospital.

They explain to the Doctor, office manager or billing manager how our plan works, and how they are supposed to submit claims.

Here's a highlight from the letter, "Do not ask the patient for a copay or deductible for preventive care, office visits, urgent care, emergency room visits or other services."

Your APC callsign is officially "Dark Cloud."

thanks i'll go look for the letters. you'd think we wouldn't have to do this though, at least i've never had to do this much just to make sure my health care worked properly. I guess i was spoiled on how streamlined everything was with the healthcare system i had at ExpressJet. there is an easier way ;)
