Didn't know if anyone mentioned it or was in the same boat of being a overachiever like myself so I wanted to pass on the good news. :D

Did you also switch to Geico and save 15% on your car insurance tonight? :D

BTW, I downloaded to my phone that heinous ringer from that Geico commercial. "Ring-a-ding-ding-dooong! dinga-ding-ding donnng!"

GEICO | GEICO Ringtones - Download free ringtones to your phone "Boss's ringtone." I suggest all assigning the "unknown" calls we get from scheduling to that one.
Freaking hilarious when I get a call walking through the terminal....

They started canceling parades back in November or December from what I heard. This was in preperation of a New Orleans super bowl when MSY was undefeated. Which was funny because Dallas killed them in the dome and then they looked completely beatable and back to being the aints until Favre through that interception.

From what I know school is out tomorrow and then Tuesday for their parade. Mardi Gras is just gettin going and Fat Tuesday is the 16th. I just hope you get to your room without having to walk 15 blocks because the van couldn't get any closer. I also have a feeling many of the people I see on ESPN and Fox News will be in the same place when you get there tomorrow. And they'll keep partying forever.

New Orleans, the town is sinking and nobody cares.

Downloading it right now. That is great. My wife will not be pleased at me in the morning when I switch her ringtone and then call her while she is in the dentist chair.

On second thought, that might go over poorly.

Do they have the one with the little house on the prarie people saying goodnight?

Good call! Was standing on the bubbamover train for a qdoba run with my wife today when I got a call. Out of the corner of my eye I could see about 4 people look over at me. I love it. Even better that she puts up with it.

As far as the little house ringer, I don't see that on the site.

I used to have this chicken clucking ringer...to this day that is my fav. Haven't been able to find it to download to my new phone.

I wonder what bizzaro ring tones scheduling hears when they call pilots.

It has been suggested that all of the recurrent material be downloaded by said pilot and not distributed via CD. A savings of probably 100K a year if not more.

Heyas Johsno,

I think what you're seeing is a good bit of "buyer's remorse" on the part of the NWA side.

We were sold this huge bill of goods by DALPA, and I'll be God damned that we didn't start to buy into some of the press along the lines of "well, they were pretty big, and that's a lot of pilots and something must be ok for it to run, and the DAL guys seem to think pretty well of it..."

Now that we have ALL transitioned into BP5 as well as switched over to other side admin wise, just about every one of us has faced the brick wall with regards to the impenetrable bureaucracy, bizarre and punitive paychecks, ridiculous Jepp revisions, visiting the computer software museum with backwards IT, manuals for 3rd graders, stepping back in time with regards to ACARS, a JS system designed by someone who obviously never commuted, home mailboxes chock full of continuing UHC surprises (long term prescriptions, anyone?) and the simplest of tasks made complicated by byzantine procedures (log landings, anyone?).

Then we finally stand up and say "W T F?" and not only do the fDAL guys stand around uninterested in listening to any suggestions for improvement, but start complaing that all we do is squawk about how backwards they are and how lucky we all are for simply stepping foot on hallowed ground..

Well, as the great Steve Martin would say: EXCUSE ME!

That, along with a DALPA that is seemingly complicit in facilitating the company line, yea, I can kinda see where some guys are getting a bit testy.

Well said, the thing that gets me is there are 5000 of the fnwa guys wondering around with no idoc, self training, and no idea on how to bid for 3 vacations...

Look at the CA (Contract Awareness) publications that have been put out. They should have been distributed to your V-file at your domicile. This is all very good info. If it is not enough, call our 800 number for ALPA. If that is not what you want, call the CPSC. Worst case go to the DALPA file library and down load the CA's. Get on the Scheduling section of the DALPA forum and ask, or ask here. PPL that know where to go read this stuff, and are willing to give input when asked.

Just so you know:

DAL NEVER gave us this type of info when we hired on. It was learn as you go. They are put out a ton of info with this merger.

Bidding for vacation is not rocket science. It is on DBMS-BIDS-VACATION. I never got instructed on how do bid, but I somehow figured it out.

As for the CD's call Manual services. They do make mistakes and are terribly over worked right now. Most of it shows up on demand or in the case of the recurrent CD's without a thing done by you. If you are not getting what you need nor want, be proactive. It works very well.

Are there things that could use improvement, yes, with out a doubt, but the union and the company need ppl like you to be willing to step forward and lend a hand.

Nu, You might ask yourself where NWA would be today with the huge drop in yields in Narita and the Far East. The yield drop is over double what the rest of the world is seeing. One of the big reasons the company wanted the SOC by 31 Dec was so they would not have to break out the NWA financials. It would have made there choice to merge look like a bad management move.
I do understand the Far East has always been boom or bust and that hopefully we will be heading back into a boom cycle and it will make tons of money. For the moment however its a real problem.
As far as getting help I have never seen this level of help being provided. In almost every case a NWA pilot has *****ed about something the company or union has put out or was putting out a extensive publication. There was nothing even close to this effort in the last two mergers I went through before this one.
The good news is that I have a lot of friends at NWA and I get a much different view of the merger from them then I get from the NWA pilots on this board. As one of them told me. The pilots *****ing on forums about the merger are the same pilots who *****ed about everything at NWA. Nothing has changed!

I earned my avatar name thanks to not knowing about vacation bidding. The good news was it was only 2 days worth of vacation that I got to enjoy in a February. As to PBS bidding, I 100% know how to do it and screw it up about 95% of the time. I always seem to forget to add something. Sometimes its critical, sometimes it's not. PBS is 100% trial and error just like bidding has always been. But thankfully I never have to deal with bidding the wrong line number thanks to momentary aixelsyd. Remember, be at one with the computer when you bid, its a computer, garbage in garbage out: "I (PBS) got you 99.9% of what you wanted but you required 100%, so off you go to a reserve line that you didn't spend enough time bidding on either", etc.

I think the #1 numero uno document for anyone to download is on deltapilots.org and it is the one titled CA 09-12. Or Contract Awareness 09-12. Its 1200 pages and includes the contract. Use the CTRL+F function to search for things and you'll find a world of informaiton. It is worth putting right on your desktop as its a complilation of everything written (primarily for DALN) since the merger on understanding the PWA. I've learned a ton from it and don't really have to ask PWA questions because its right there for me to look up.
