Airline Pilot Central Forums - Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

The Transportation Department said Tuesday it has tentatively allowed the transaction to proceed as long as the airlines sell some of their slot interests to carriers with no or limited service at the two airports.

I guess the $$$ question is what your definition of "some" is. Could this mean US Air will have to sell some of their DCA slots (which they're getting from us) since the sticking point was reportedly JB wanting access to DCA.

Probably. Oh well. Gets us what we want.

How's this for conspiracy theory:

We got shot down this morning by JAL and got the swap approved this afternoon. Could this just be a Machiavellian plan to get DOT to approve the swap and then the ETIC comes in and overrules the JAL CEO and we end up getting both.

I do not think the two are intertwined. I do beleive that the ETIC needs to support the deal. I have seen no press stating that they have backed JAL's decision.
Also the Japanese do not make comments like have posted on other threads unless there is a reason for it. It is just not their culture.
