Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Oh you mean they are staying for the same reason the "Cat Ranchers" are!
It is a social network. That does make a lot of sense.
BTW, I take pride in the fact that I still have days that I do not even make it to the mailbox!

But for most I don't think it's about the $$$. I think it's because they have NO life!!! They have no wife to come home to(or one they can't stand being around), and the thought of waking up the next day and not being 'CA Airline Superstar' scares them to death. They just can't accept that it's ok to retire. It's ok to not have to fly for a living. It's ok for your biggest task of the day to be deciding which pair of slippers you should wear.
But that's me.
Um, she works. A lot. If I have the house cleaned and dinner cooked, I am generally safe.
Guys,
Here's my take on the over 60 guys. For some it's about the $$$. Some are soooo paranoid that their pensions will just disappear they'll probably work for the extra $1000 a month until they die.

It's not that they need the $$$, it's that they need the title, the status, the direction. JMO.

Agree with you. One famous whale captain, who was hired and upgraded VERY young, flew to 60, then went back and roped.
When he finally retired, he died before the first retirement check came in the mail.
Another guy, built a whole, working 747 sim in his basement.
Don't get me wrong, I begrudge these guys nuttin', and I'll bet that a metioric rise from crop duster on the South Dakota plains to NWA pilot at 19, to whale captain at 28, and spending the next 32 years in the highest paying gig in avaition's golden years was a helluva ride.
But jeeze, some of these guys NEED a hobby, need to meet some new friends, need find a "lady friend" that works the unmentionables counter at Macy's or just need to let it go already.
I like airplanes, but I'll be god darned if I spend one day longer working for someone else than I have to....
Nu
I have read three books this week and am aiming for five before Friday.
Summers are busy on reserve but winters are awesome.
