FTB, you have been away too long. Those are pics of B-D stadium at UAT.
Jordan-Hare looks so much better.

Anyone been to Tonopah know what the ground terrain is like, ie sand, rocky dirt, or what? It's for a fellow modeler's diorama.

It's been over 20 years and I wasn't there very often but it's a lot of the above. Desert Caliche (calcium carbonate and limestone) and some dry lake bed sands as well.

:D

Tonopah is a British warship from the 1600s. Its sister ship was the "Diversity."

Diorama is what you get after flying to central america too much.

Let's see the whitey tighties, ftb!

Yeah, but as I said earlier, the scope clause says it has to have the Smokey logo and an orange spinnaker. :D I guess it could say something about the Crimson tide as long as it's not too prominently displayed.

Been back in Auburn since the summer of 2000. Of course I'm a little older than you as I spent 20+ years in the Air Force. :D If you've got kids, you'll love the schools in Auburn.

Commuted to Memphis and Detroit and looking forward to driving to work in ATL come April.

Or here's an alternative. Captain 60+ is on the 767ER out of New York, leaving every other Sunday on a five-day trip to Nice; a 72 hour layover on the French Riviera.

Each trip pays 28 hours; he does two of them for a 56 hour month. Not a full month, but he doesn't care. He's semi-retired. Who in their right mind would retire from that???

It's not that these very senior guys have no life, it's that they have a great life! I don't blame them a bit for sticking around. I plan to when I get to that point.

Agree 100%. Or, how about the ATL 777A/B who actually lives out west and gets the LAX-SYD trip (pays 38 hours with two deadheads ATL-LAX-ATL), commutes same day on both ends so only "works" 6 days a month and gets paid 76 hours. Why should this guy retire when he has 24 days off a month and get's 150K+ as an FO and 250K+ as a CA. One other thing to think about for all you early retireds is the cost of health care prior to 65 (it can easily be 1000-2000/month) if you don't have a wife with access to group health care. I know a lot of people aren't happy with our health care plans - try ehealthinsurance.com to see what it would cost you on your own. Just my $.02.

And since we aren't handcuffed to a pension anymore as you put it.. we don't HAVE to do anything. The best thing we have going for us is the fact that we don't have to maintain a minimum hour/month schedule. I would fight a change to THAT with my last breath (metaphorically speaking of course) I mean.. why not fly to FRA once a month for a good beer? Or for those that like it... Paris for some rude waiters and overrated wine? If that's what some guys wanna do.. more power to 'em. Now who was it that was talking about a sailboat? I need a partner (for a boat). :D

TSquare,

Great point - I have been paid to fly my entire working career (30+ years - Air Force and Delta). Let's not ever allow them to put a minimum requirement on our schedule (UAL has a 55 hour minimum - no drops below that). I will probably fly until 65 because I enjoy it and would love to drop down to one or two trips a month (Domestic or International). The work's pretty nice if you go where you want, when you want and as often as you want. Being on the road with a full line of 12-17 days a month is pretty hard. Flying a 4 or 5 day trip every other week for a 50-60 hour month (particularly if they are good layovers in nice places) isn't that bad. Personally, I get bored around the house and ENJOY flying airplanes and getting paid for it as long as I don't have to work too hard.

Agreed! I hope to start easing in that direction in the next 5 or 6 years, if the contract still allows it.
