The "New" Delta does not have to be in compliance with the staffing formula on the NWA side for some time.

There still could be but after reductions (depending on where they come from) it may be a wash. we'll see

Yet they are already working towards the new staffing formula, per the recent NWA staffing emails. To some extent they are beginning that process supposedly.

So what do you guys think? Is it realistic to hope for just stagnation in current position for several years? Possible junior pilots displaced off of their current position to lower paying positions (reserve 757 to reserve 320, reserve 320 to DC-9, DC-9 to compass and so on)?

I think displacements are almost a given at this point. Our seniority list is really out of alignment so to speak. Now it's correcting as is evident by the last AE (went surprisingly senior). If equipment is moved, and it will be, displacements will probably follow. I think the shortage on the NWA side will be more than offset by "our" downsizing.

We will wait and see. Most of the junior guys are on the ER. That will cost a lot to have them retrained.

Wait and see where the cuts come from.....

I was told today by a management pilot that after a phone conference call today with Atlanta, LOTS of displacements are coming with the next AE. However, they still said no furloughs.

Another person in my category also heard the same thing.

I fully expect to see those yougens on the 7ER and domestic 767s to be bumped.

Hope that does not happen. What on the DAL side would trigger large displacements? Weve heard A330's to NYC or 74's ATL but what on the DAL side? Thanks

Is displacement that bad? Try getting furloughed

I think considering the turmoil in this industry, we should be pretty grateful that the "F" word still hasn't surfaced. The company is well aware of the cost associated with all the training events, and the ripple effects that will cause them financially. I for one will just enjoy my work, while updating my resume if it comes to worse, and not trying to read too much into all these rumors about AE, or the SLI.

I think some of us newbies on property are spoiled to be able to base close to home, flying the ER across the pond. That's exactly why I never look down upon our brothers in DTW, flying the dc9 for 5 legs a day. Think back just a few years ago, we'd all be turning the whiz wheel, being a plumber for a few years before we could even fly the maddog.

Life's too short to care about things we have no control over.

You may see displacements to new bases. Fact is that 4% capacity cut is minimal for the Internationale side of things. That is maybe 40 pilots total.
What may happen is a large displacement out of NYC when the 330 comes in. Now that they have a CVG ER base, it will be quite cheap and quick to do so.

If there are in fact no fences, as has been rumored, DAL will start moving airplanes immediately.

In addition to reduced demand, Delta cited the burden increased collateral requirements because of fuel hedges that have turned negative because of the steep dropoff in energy prices.

I heard this on the radio this morning, we're (Delta) is still paying around $100bb for oil with our hedging and we won't see the benefits of this $48 and below oil price until the spring. So I guess we're in a low demand moderate fuel price right now.
