ACL and I moved up 9 slots in ATL767B (13 leaving and 4 coming via displacement)....hooray!

Nice article. Kind of what we were saying during SLI hearings. Does the lack of ATLMD88 fill possibly indicate hiring early next year or are they waiting to displace more until the summer schedule is firm. It is interesting as they continued to place folks into categories that were considered correctly or over-manned according to DAL's "Needs Projection" sheets.

More then likely it means no one bid those positions. It would normally indicate a need to hire however until we see the second half of this bid all bets are off. They could post displacements in other categories that would force pilots down to the MD-88. For the moment however they do not have a surplus and it looks like the planned hiring in the Spring will happen. The question is how many?

Many people bid the 88B in ATL. They did not fill it. They also shrunk the ATL 767B by nine numbers. Plenty had it bid, they just did not fill it.

Are they still deadheading 767 crews down from CVG to fly ATL 767 routes?

acl65pilot 12-01-2008 05:52 AM

Yep, and that was part of the reason to make the shift.
We will probably see the CVG crew become fluent in French. I would guess you will see six days with PIT, and RDU as the second overnight. Just a guess.

There is that 9-day ATL ER trip thats ATL-CDG CDG-CVG CVG-CDG CDG-CVG CVG-CDG CDG-ATL. I guess that might go away. :)

That was hard to type.

I'm curious how quickly they'll make the shift to ER flying on their bid packages.

acl65pilot 12-01-2008 06:32 AM

Well it is a four day training event followed by two TOE (international IOE) so I am sure that there will be some backlog

Hopefully TOE scheduling will work better than it went last year, some of the LCPs have been flying not doing TOEs so maybe their is some room in the schedule.

Trivial question for the day, that AE page option to see how many people are bidding a category ahead of you will count someone who bids a category that they already hold. For instance, ATL 7ER my current category, I put it in as my #1 choice and someone behind me saw ATL 7ER go from 90 people ahead of them to 91. I take it out and it goes back to 90. I'd be curious to know how much of those numbers are people that already hold the category that is in their standing bid? A little, half, most?

Not a reply to your post but just a basic new hire question on the AE results. How was there so much movement when the AE was for only ATL and CVG. How were guys able to move to SCL or LAX?? I understood it to only be 7ER and 777 - why was there movement to 73N and MD88?? Guess I have much to learn about AE's.

As LAX and SLC guys move to the 777, 764, and 7ER, for example, the positions they leave are filled. If it works like it's supposed to, entitlements with large numbers of 777 and 764 positions create a ton of movement throughout the entire system. There wasn't as much this time because many newly opened positions were not back filled.
