I have a question about how the AE runs or is executed. Let's assume we are looking at 4 pilots in the seniority list. To make it simple, we will call them Pilots 1-4. Their actual seniority numbers aren't 1-4 though ... there are various people in between them with no bids.

Current Position Position Bidding
1. ATL767B ATL777B
2. ATLMD88B ATL767B
3. ATL767B ATL767A
4. ATLMD88B ATL767B

Ok, Pilot 1 wants the 777, but does not get it. So he remains on the 767B.
Pilot 2, wanted the ATL767B, but since no positions opened up above him, he stays in the ATLMD88.
Pilot 3 bids for Capt, and he gets it.

Now, since there is an ATL767B opening (pilot 3's slot) ... does the bidding system go back to Pilot 2 and award him the 767B since he is senior, or does it go to Pilot 4?

Thanks ..

Yes if there is backfilling. No, if there is no backfilling. If no backfilling, then there is a loss of a seat theoretically which is how they can shrink a category with no displacements. That is what will most likely happen here.

Non-revs (including buddy pass riders) are not charged for the first or second piece of checked luggage, up to 50 pounds each.

Thank you very much.

I also have not been charged when flying on a yeild fare ticket. (Known as Family Fares)

Anyone have any idea if they will be backfilling on this AE or is it just wait and see?

Also, its taken me three Family Fare tickets to find this out, the Kiosks will not recognize your travel plans by your PPR# or your reservation number. I had to wait in line every time. The agent this morning told me that I wasn't crazy ... you must see the agents if you have a FamFare ticket.

Yep, I have had it work twice after the converted the Kiosks to the NWA software, and then they started messing with it again. I have also noticed that if you put an infant-in-arms it will block your seats on-line, as wel as not let you check in.

So will this AE tell us if they plan on hiring?

acl65pilot 11-30-2008 12:30 PM

The next one should, but even if we are short they can opt not to hire. There is a lot involved in that decision. Lots going on right now.

Delta has some leeway in hiring however if they are short by the contractual staffing formula they can not opt not to hire. They would be in violation of the contract. This exact situation happened about 3 years ago and the company ended up paying out millions to the pilot group for the undermanning when the grievence was won.
