New CAN divide by zero.

New once knew a call was a wrong number, even though the person on the other end wouldn’t admit it.

New, you now represent the DC-9 Captains:

Why will it get there? Because you have a hairy chest that would make hasslehoff jealous and brass balls clanging so loud that when you die they'll replace the bell in Big Ben with them.

:)

Super,
you posted this yesterday morning. Sorry, I only read it tonight.

Don't think so small - we should have no less than the company contribution being reset to the 415C limit. Nothing less.

Scambo

That would be great. I vote yes! :D

GJ

It is not for a lack of desire, or so I am told. It has to do with the little issue of there not being any open production slots. If we can get someone to part with the new 200's we would.

$49,000 (in 2010) per year, every year? Let's do some basic math. Assume that increases with the rate of inflation (at 3%) and you work a 30 year career and earn 8% on your money. That grows to $7.5m which then throws off an annual $543k for 30 years past retirement (invested at 6% in retirement). Discounting that to today's $$ yields $224k. So, you're saying you want more in retirement than a 777A Captain makes working today?

I've got no problem with that, if money grew on trees, and Santa Claus could deliver. In the real world, where trade-offs are made, I'll take a bit more DC but I want higher payrates first.

I would have to think that Delta could ask for that to be changed. I doubt they are going to retrain even more pilots to go back to the NWA system. They will change the code and be done with it. You can probably do it on your Iphone.

The fuel savings have a lot more to do with accuracy and planning flexibility than crusie speed.

Maybe they are keeping the worldflight contract to leverage AWABS/WDR to improve their product?

Don't think for a second that the only ones who will be trained on something new will be fNW if there are significant cost savings and revenue enhancement involved.

PG, After sending my Uncle Sam a check this week, I want to do whatever I can to shelter my $$. If we can get a small bump in pay but get maxed out on the 415 limits, that's a good thing. Hide the money from the taxman now but show it to him later when we are in a presumably lower tax bracket:D!

Of course, I could be over simplifying YMMV.

DELTA - Don't Ever Let Technology Advance :p

What you "heard" isn't correct. If so, the same restrictions would have been apparent on the MD-11, L1011, and 777's. They were all flight planned at their appropriate speeds for ambient weight/conditions/fuel and crew costs.

Is the 744 going out at .79 as well?

Pilots give DT a bunch of crap all the time, but I remind you to compare how the IT integration has gone compared to our peers. No USAirways merger meltdown. JetBlue had trouble changing to Sabre. How about a few props for the folks that are actually making that portion of the business work, so we can kevetch about dual releases and single engine taxi...;)

That is why I said I would vote for it! :D

Fair enough, although as reported in LCA meetings RA has said IT improvements are the number one priority this year.

Any confirm or deny on fuel savings and the retaining or resurrecting Jepps/Worldflight?
