We never had much of a problem with landings, as there was a domestic leg in and out of BOS or JFK (then back and forth to AMS) so the real crew got their landings ok. You would have to ask a DTW guy if that was a problem since they did DTW to AMS. As the JAFA, I always had a DH (ie to and from BOS) starting and ending the trip. But, I've never had a problem with landings since I mix up domestic and international......and on the asia stuff I get lots of landings too.

Who sits where? The capt always sits in his seat whenever he is in the cockpit. The first FO slides over to the left for middle break and then goes back when the capt (off middle break) comes back up. Junior FO from first break sits right the entire time.

What do you mean "Stuck in Mumbai?" Mumbai is an adventure in itself. You can take the city tour with our personal driver. You can go shopping at the various markets. You can go to the "Chemist" and get all kinds of meds like pain killers and Viagra. Ha You can go to the leather works to get a new flight kit made or high quality jackets made. Or you can go to the jewelry vendors and buy something you didn't really need or want. The Mumbai possibilities are endless.

One's pain is another's comfort.

By and large I love India. I've done the 'personal driver' in the touk-touk thing and I often venture out in other cities even when the rest of the crew may not. I just think Mumbai is an overload on my five senses. It's like Kim Chi (sp?), one's pain is another's comfort. ;)

I remember one trip, on the way back from AMS, I gave the other FO his pick since I had "taken" the last break going over. He said he didn't care, so I shacked him with the first break again.......he wasn't happy:D. Hardly talked to me at all when he came up.

Yeah, you me a and Buzz gotta stick together. Just remember, thems Jar Heads was just PE majors who couldn't pass the AFOQT. Kidding, just kidding........I'm love'en the HBO series "Pacific"! Some tough kids, I don't think I could have done that.

OK, first break sucks and are nearly worthless. Captain pay is great, but getting the choice of first or second break is worth the upgrade in itself. In many years of international flying as an FO, I rarely met a Captain that would forfeit his second break claim.
Must run, All for now.

I've rarely met any pilot who would give up money.

Mumbai is definitely an overload of one's senses, but with a lot of thought, I can think of worse places to be stranded. OK, maybe only a few. All for now.

I think it actually resets on the 1st day of your anniversary month so you need to use it prior to the 1st day of your anniversary month or it is "next" years APD.

It depends on how far back you want to go. In ICREW go to Preflight, then Archived Rotations. I think you can pull up rotations up to a year ago if you know the rotation number. Over a year and I think you are SOL.

Thanks Buzz. I may just have to suck it up. I'll think about it.
