Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

Well, the union tried and the fact is that the company would not agree to it. We had to fight very hard to get what we have. Trust me. Plus, fact is that the company needed the flexibility.
It stinks, and as I have said before it stinks more when we are at the bottom of the list.

How long would it take a new-hire to hold the 747-400? Could a new-hire hold the 747-400?

Um probably at least 10 years, best case. In essence it is the one jet that no new hire will ever see. They will be long gone before we could home it.

I agree, it would have been awesome. With the SLI the way it is, job protection will come to more DAL pilots after SOC. That in itself is a gain. I know that there are plenty of people on the bottom of the list that will not get it.
Fact is that if DAL decides to run a fat ship and not furlough, it says a lot about the executives that we work for. I personally am very impressed.

Acl,
While Delta says they do not intend to furlough, I would hate to for the ultra new guys on both list to think that has any actual bearing on what they will do. I would expect them to say they are not going to furlough until the day they announce the furlough. They fully understand that pilots who are going to be furloughed have a high sick rate and such making it difficult for the company to get it ducks in a row prior to the actual furlough.
Case in point the day before the initial 400 furlough announcement at DAL in 2001, I spoke face to face with the DFW chief pilot Ron Dockers or Donckers can't remember is last name concerning me going back to my old job and about possibly taking a leave of absence. He looked me in the eye and said they were not going to furlough and to not pursue the job. I walked out of his office started my trip and the next morning the furlough coordinator called me and said I would be furloughed in 24 days. So I personally would not trust the company or the union for that matter to provide you with any information to plan your life around. We cannot forget that they have absolutely no interest in our lives we are numbers on a piece of paper and/or an expense.
Johnso29,
It may be my mistake on the NW furloughs. I got that information from the SLI transcripts. I did go back and take a quick look and I did make a mistake, the company had contacted the union about furloughing 350 NW pilot but it appears they put it on hold to because of the merger. As far as DAL was concerned I can find no evidence that supports and upcoming DAL furlough but I could have missed something. Concerning the reductions I was simply referring to the 12 to 15% cut that was announced by Delta and is fairly well documented in various press releases as well as on this board.
As far as the early outs being offer to the other employees, I suspect that given the expense and other contractual issues that pilots bring to the table we will be offered something different or they will just furlough. So in that we agree.

Currently DALPA is taking the side of Delta Management and NWA Management on the trip rigs. From what has been posted on the NWA board we are about 400 or so pilots short when we switch to DAL rigs.
If you are a bottom dweller on on the list from either company call your reps. We need to get this changed for the benefit of all pilots.
Lets say that ACL is right on the parking of aircraft. Lets also say that no NWA aircraft are parked, i.e. the 9 replaces an rj route. So now the company is fat 400 or so pilots. The majority of furloughs are going to come from the DAL side of the list.
If we are short on the NWA side there will be seats for these guys to crossover into. Yes Ralphie it may be the DC-9 but it pays better then the unemployment line.
Call your reps and tell them to get the work rules the same on both sides. The job you save might be your own.

I know it doesn't mean much, but don't we have a 2 year furlough protection or was that just LOA 19?
