I have a deadhead for recurrent training set up from my base to ATL. Instead I want to go from another city. Can I make a company business reservation from the other city on travelnet, and disregard the reservation the company made, or do I have to coordinate this with the company?

One of the recurrent documents seemed to indicate travelnet should be used. I'm not allowed to modify the reservation the company made for me, however.

88; I agree, I do not care what they publish about what we make. If they buy the ticket that is all I care about. I do not avoid companies that pay X too much. I buy based on my own elasticity of demand.

Actually, UAUA got theirs because of the strike of NWA. Both UAL and DAL saw how much money the company could lose in 2 weeks with airplanes sitting on the ground.

If you are not willing to strike, you will get whatever the company deems you are worth. Never saw a CEO fly an airplane:)

Let's get ready to put those spiffy hats to good use and put em on our head to keep the sun off our heads as we walk around in circles.

In the past, you called the XCM desk to change the reservation, and they made the change for you in about 15 seconds. Apparently, the XCM desk has been closed now that we can book our jumpseats online. (I guess they are ignoring all the other stuff the XCM desk did... but I digress).

I've heard that crew scheduling is now doing the XCM desk's job - so, I'd first try the XCM desk in case I have my info wrong (you can reach it through the 1-800-DAL-CREW menus) and if no one answers, call scheduling.

But yes, it is perfectly fine to change the travel to/from sim training to your home airport.

SOUTHWEST INSPECTS TUGS FOR SWITCH FAULT

Southwest Airlines is performing a fleet-wide check of its baggage tugs after a runaway vehicle damaged the engines and fuselage of a Boeing 737-300 (N624SW) leaving the gate at Los Angeles International airport on 9 April. Investigators found a faulty safety switch on the errant tug and others at the US hub.

We have this problem in Atlanta but it only occurs when the tug is occupied.

:D

Yes.

Do you not believe that quality pilots are critical to safety?
Yes.

It has nothing to do with how much the "average DAL Captain" makes right now. It has everything to do with the value of this profession and its ability to attract quality individuals.

"You get what you pay for." It's a tried and true, common sense saying that ultimately applies to pilots just like everything else. I don't believe it is a hard case to make at all, if presented properly.
And I believe that the profession, at the majors, unfortunately, will be able to attract pilots who are safe at current wage rates. I wish it weren't so; I really do. Perhaps they are not as safe as you or I; that's pretty tough to judge. But I'm confident those who make it to the majors will be safe.

The regionals are a different story; and on several occasions, I've stopped flying certain regional carriers when the hiring standards dropped too low in my personal opinion. But with the majors, even at current rates, I don't think you can play the safety card successfully. Just my opinion.

I recently had to deal with this issue. Pretty sure you're supposed to make the call, I think the XCM number takes you to the Chief Pilot Support Center, or at least it did when I called. They made the changes. While in training, you'll do all of your COBUS travel through the travelnet no problem, pretty sure you're supposed to have 48 hours between events to do so.

I really enjoyed that place and my wife and I took that drive on the 12,000' MSL highway in June or July and threw snowballs and then my wife tried to run and about passed out.

See if anyone knows what book was inspired by this establishment in Estes Park.

PWA 11. I. General (page 11-20)
1. A pilot will:
a. receive positive space coach transportation on Company aircraft or on wholly owned
DCI carriers, and Pinnacle (so long as it remains a DCI carrier), to travel between the
training location and any Company station:
1) before and after training.
2) at his request during each duty-free period of 48 hours or more, if sales are
authorized at the time of his attempted booking.
b. receive the highest space available priority among Delta non-revenue travelers on
non-wholly owned DCI carriers (other than Pinnacle) to travel between the training
location and any Company station before and after training.

2. A pilot’s initial reservation will be made to and from the pilot’s base. He may change
this routing to be between the training location and any Company station if sales are
authorized at the time of his attempted booking by coordinating with JSA/XCM.

3. A pilot who travels to training away from base will be considered to have traveled

between his base and the training location in accordance with his initial reservation for
purposes of determining PWA and FAR compliance, training pay, and expenses.

The same book inspired my favorite Jack Nicholson scene:
