Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
A little info from the MEM base meeting, take it for what its worth:
Hiring will be 305 this year at a minimum. That includes recalls and flow ups, so about 130-140 off the street. They have 2000 applicants on file and value LORs. On the flip side, make sure you know them well, they will ask you about them.
MD90's: This getting them from where they can, SAS and JAL have been approached. they would like to have 60-70 of them. They have to be the right price though.
The DC-9-40's may be around till January, depends. They are going though. The -50's will be around till oil goes up again.
No new bases for the 744 or A330, yet. Same as the A320, although NY maybe possible soon.
The SEA 7ER base will grow, they just wanted to spread out the training a little, more slots in the next one.
They do want to standardize the 757 fleet interiors. They claim there are way to may layouts right now.
Almost all markets have shown growth, minus the Caribbean. Africa going like gang buster, mentioned Rawanda as possible.
ATL will be upgaged, DC-9's replacing RJs. they want to dump as many 50 seaters as they can. Still a market for them, but we have way too many of them.
NY DCA is up in the air still. Delta is actually all right with the DOT now, USAirways is the one who will have to make the decision.
787 is also up in the air, probably wait for the later version. The 777 deliveries this year are it, unless a big change with the international market.
They also mentioned no chance of a 100 seater or any new aircraft. they even mentioned the old NWA idea of buying used aircraft when other airlines go for the next gen of aircraft.
Well, that's all I remember. Again, take it for what its worth

Wow, it's like a time warp. All we need now is Carl hollering about market cap and stock value.
At least where we could control training of the pilots we did and our pilot training was some of the best. Talk to your buds going to 320 school house. We are talking pilot training here not maintenance. How many times you been on strike my man or has DAL been on strike? As far as being another value jet don't think so. You probably would not know the premerger cash positions of each airline. Any way old argument and don't want to go there not productive. I would have like to have supported the mechanics strike but that was not my call, just for the record.
Funny, the only time I've sat at the gate waiting for W&B info is at DTW...former NWA base...because the gate agents haven't figured it out yet. Call the load people at DTW and ask for them to expedite? Get treated like the crack ***** down town. That's NEVER happened to me other than that at Delta. Plus, you talk about a poorly run operation? Again, take a look at Detroit brother. I've never had a problem at any other Delta base in the system. You got some facts? Bring it. Write a COR, report it to the CP, do something other then ***** on this forum.
I know, I know, those gate agents haven't figured it out yet either.
Carl
We love you Keenster. In fact, I'll drink a cold one for you! Looking forward to the chance to buy you one in person.
I think Plane, Path, Performance, People, Popsicle Sticks ought to be replaced. Take a quick gander at what makes our airline: ACS, Corporate, Corporate Safety Security and Compliance, Delta Cargo, Finance, Flight Operations, Global Sales & Distribution, HR, IFS, IT, Marketing, Network Planning and Revenue Management, OCC, Reservation Sales, Supply Chain Management, Techops.
Alright, divide that out into a more practical single assembly line or channel that makes a little more sense and seems like it has a goal, a clarified "win" if you will:
