This wasn't a NWA versus DAL issue. In my opinion, ALPA left these pilots high and dry. ALPA representatives should have been on every talkshow and news TV show showing ATC's culpability in this incident. Additionally, they should have also shown how other carriers (jetBlue I believe), allows their pilots to use laptops in flight.

I agree with that a lot.

Fatboy, check this out:

This was in Lajes.

Holy smokes !!! BANK ANGLE BANK ANGLE !!!! hahaah

Actually, it was a Mcguire tail. And after reading the photographers narrative, there were high crosswinds and a following aircraft reported windshear. But damn, that picture just looks aweful.

The best part, its a Travis AFB tail ... :). I hope there was a serious crosswind. If not, someone is Q3, at least I hope so.

It said windshears reported by the KC10 that landed after it.

So you know the 4 things a good FO must be able to say: clear right, you're right, I'll take the fat one and yes sir it must have been windshear.

Ok back to serious "its all about me" questions.

I thought I understood green slipping, but I guess not (this is the first one I've tried to enter). I wanted to pick up an out of base, with no conflict. But, I also wanted to sharp shoot the specific trip. Is that not possible? I didn't see where there was anywhere but a date range to enter. I also didn't see how to get off the first page......back to watch the video again.:D

I used to fly into Lajes all the frikking time. Worst crosswinds I've ever encountered

Thanks for that picture ... I'm on a fact finding mission to see if we can find the pilots and ask them how that ended. haha

Ferd,

Yes, you can sharp shoot a specific trip. It sounds like you are getting to the very first screen where you have to enter the number of your request IE 1 for your first request. Once you put the number in the little bitty box in the middle of the page hit enter and then the first lines on the template will be for the specific trip, date, and base for an out of base GS.

Time to play the let's guess the earnings game. I looked through the slide deck that Delta showed at their B of A, Merrill Lynch conference and tried to back out the earnings for the second quarter. They reported a guess of $1,400 million in EBITDAR so I came up with this (all in millions):

EB: $1,400 (reported in slide deck)
I: $290 (guess based on 1Q number decreased a bit)
T: $25 (pure wag)
DA: $385 (same as 1Q)
R: $112 (same as 1Q)

I come up with earnings of about $588 million before any special items. Your guess is as good as mine.

k, ftb is going to go annoy his wife while the adults talk EBITDAR and EBITDA and stuff. BTW, tangent, a buddy of mine texted me with some advice for those of you who are young single hip guys who don't like the bar scene, join a coed soccer team. Funny.
