Thanks for all the replies on the NRT laundry, I have the NRT-SIN-NRT trip next week. The trip looks like a "mutha" but I've never been to SIN so what the heck.

If it gets too hot, SIN has a nice aquarium on Sentosa Island. The shark tube is the coldest spot in Singapore.

The Food Court in the high rise next door has some really good food at a reasonable price. Also some good Indian restaurants in the local area or you could wander over to Chinatown or Little India for food and shopping. If you don't mind a taxi ride, you can wander over to East Coast Seafood Park and have some Pepper Crab or some Chili Crab.

If you aren't that adventurous there are numerous restaurants on your side of the river and on the opposite side of the river.

Singapore also has an excellent zoo, if you are looking for something pedestrian. The night safari at the zoo is really good, but you are really cutting into your sleep time if you do that.

The largest bookstore in SE Asia is in SIN. Kinokuniya. There is also a large Borders bookstore down on Orchard.

SIN is a very nice, clean and perhaps a little sterile town but its a great layover. I wish they would change it back to the old arrival and departure time, the westbound flight is a b**ch.

There are also numerous WW2 tours available as well as Harbor Cruises

If you want to know about the less mundane things to do, you'll have to ask somewhere else. I don't post that kind of stuff in here...

Just to be clear, you can be on reserves for more than 6 days in a row and there is no need for a 24 hour break as long as you are not assigned to be at the controls of a 121 operated flight. If you are going to fly, then you must have a 24 hr break somewhere in a 7 day period.

This is new to the company and they will be experimenting with it. At the present expect to most likely be assigned a 24 hr break before the 7th day but this is not required.

:)

Exactly. So if you sit 6 days straight reserve without being used, do not call them. Maybe you'll go into your 7th and 8th days without being used. Then let them try to assign you a trip. This is where you get to let them know that you need 24 hours rest before you can fly per FAR's at which point you might get out of a trip. No sense in making their job easier at your expense.

I only answer company phone call when i'm only supposed to, i.e. Ask yourself 2 questions: 1) Am i getting paid at this moment to take their call? 2) Will answer this call benefit me somehow. For example, a phone call during a 30 hr. layo is usually a raw deal, if you ask me.

If you're not sure, let it go to v-mail, and check your sked without acknowledging until you know what you get yourself into.

So true and so sad at the same time. When will management realize that a beneficial synergy can occur the second we start working as a team? I'm bidding out of the ER to whatever I can hold a line on for this very reason. And where is ALPA when scheduling consistantly give us 5am show for a 24 hour SC? The scheduling department sure has gone south and sour in the last year. I had enough..... DC-9 here I come but at least I can hold a line and won't be abused by big J ever again.

Thanks Nosmos. I am not a mundane layover kind of a guy. I hear there is a party at the end of the world.
