I like reading about the changes in fleet numbers, staffing, hiring, routes and other objective information that this thread usually provides.

The Latest and Greatest is that we still ALL have jobs, Delta is moving some of their newbies out of the way and NWA will enjoy bidding on 767's when the flying comes back. There might even be a little hiring.

Our union really does not have the ability to change the NWA pilots' grievances at this time, in either direction. Individuals on a web board have an order of a magnitude's less power to effect the outcome. I think I speak for all pilots in saying we want you to be compensated by our contract and enjoy the best of the work rules because we don't want to be whipsawed by cheaper labor ourselves.

The rest you have to either get over, or get another job. If fighting on a web board made any difference to ALPA, we'd have one pilot group doing all the brand's flying and all of us would be Captains.

that is very true. the majors don't want to be whipsawed. they want the regionals to be whipsawed so they can get a bigger paycheck.

What he said.

I agree... 95% of the pilots I fly with are happy with their company, their mgt, and their lives... Not to say they don't wish for some improvements, but it is normally pleasant come to work. I think people got so upset by that Letter/post b/c coming to work doesn't feel like a fight each day and we want it to stay that way.

How do you figure that Eric? If we allow regionals to get whipsawed and as a result bring down wages, that does not help the majors as the bar is continually lowered. Personally, I'd love to see the CRJ drivers making $150/hour. But since this thread is about the "Latest and Greatest about Delta", that's an argument for another thread.

Honest question, not trying to start an argument

I have a quick question and I am just too lazy to see if the info is somewhere on the privious 400 something pages of this thread.

I AM NOT TRYING TO START A FIGHT!

I happenend to come across two of my friends the other day, one is NWA the other DAL. The one from NWA was "talking loudly" about the fences that go up with the merger.

To understand if he is right or just incorrectly informed, can someone explain the fences and who they apply too. In other words does it keep pilots from both airlines from bidding equipmemt of the others or just restrict NWA guys.

Again, I am not trying to start something, I just want to know if he is right or not.

Thanks (he says ducking for cover in full MOPP 4 gear)

I believe the restriction in the award is that, for five years after SOC, former NWA pilots own the 747 and 787 seats, and the original Delta guys own the 777 seats.

That's pretty much correct. I'll add that if 787 orders are converted to 777 orders, then those 777 seats belong to NWA pilots. That plus the quoted post sums the fences up. Hope that helps.

The question no one has posed is this. Lets say they are not canceled but deferred to when the 900's arrive. They in turn add 777-300's to our order after moving back the 900 order. Who gets what, or are the NWA folks allowed to bid the 900 when it arrives?
Also that would put many of the 787's outside of the five year fence.
