Don't know about Comair's restrictions. I would like to know.

So ACL, have we passed the good news window yet for December that we were hoping for?

Here's a thought. Instead of giving DCI carriers right now any CRJ 700s or 900s, we start giving Compass more E175s. For every 2 CRJ200s we take back from a DCI then we also take back 1 CRJ900... i.e. just take back planes. Make Compass the #1 DCI operator from here on out and the only one with new orders, say 90 new planes to go with their 30 (equals about 1200 pilots) and then make them fly out of all of the DAL bases as well as NWA.

Its an idea I'd approve. ;)

I think the DELTA logo is too small. Would have looked much better if it were big enough to fill in the entire area below the upper deck windows.

Shopping for upgrades? GMAFB.

How about wondering what damage control is available for the seniority I have left? Roughly 750 Delta Pilots hired after me will be forever senior to me, and benefiting from NW retirements ahead of me. Was going to retire as a WB Capt, now NB. Wanna trade places?

DALPA based a large part of their case, successfully, on the unfounded premise of the DC9's imminent demise. Now that it might be *your* aircraft it's unfair? We couldn't manage to negotiate a deal - it's all over now except for the crying (and the supplemental arbitration's)

Maybe DALPA will get off their @ss now and support the trip-rig agreed to in the JCBA to everyone's' benefit - even yours

How bout if we start furloughing people we dust off Delta Express in E175s and CRJ900s? Preferably the 175.

No express, Compass is your new B scale, until the union is ready to bring Compass on to the bottom of the list, it is the best that you can hope for!!

Read section 1

Total number of big rj's is limited to 225. From where we are now it is 3 RJ's for each mainline jet. Add to it that DAL is trying to reduce 50 seaters, it makes for a very difficult process.
The DCI contract that were signed in CH 11 and shortly thereafter are a legal nightmare for DAL. Each DCI carrier knows it too. They are the ones with most of the upper hands. DAL has a few though. Every five years we rework a few sections of the contract. Many of those contracts are entering in to this first five year window. Things like compensation, hold backs, through cost, etc are going to be reworked. A few of them have min limit points. Many of those are very close to the floors that were set.
What this means is that to shrink DCI, mainline will need to shrink.

Now on to your questions.
Yes, DAL offered 1 CRJ 900 in return to park 2 CRJ 200's. This would have been the easiest way to shrink DCI. No courts no hard feelings, but the DCI carriers have employees that they need to keep happy to. Doing this replacement leaves 50% of the work group on the street. It is not something that many want to do right now. In a few years when attrition is high at the regional level they would take this deal and run with it. Just not in these times.

Fact is that Compass should grow. It is the best place to do so, but like OH, you will probably see them stagnate. The will be kept to a min level of flying in the down turn. Now when the economy recovers you will probably see the wholly owned carriers grow so that in the next down turn they do not have the issues with shrinking the contract carriers that they are having today.

News is there, but from what I understand it is on ice along with the fish we pulled out while we were ice fishing. ;)

Seriously though, they have decided on status quo until they make the long term decisions. The next few months will give them the data they need to decided if and how may people are furloughed as well as how many jets we will get or not get, as well as how many we will park or not park.
Blame the bankers, they screwed the economy and got a 10+ million dollar bonus each for doing so!

Sounds great but I am sure that each and every DCI carrier would take DAL to court and have a legal leg to stand on.
Miraculously their D-0, D-5, and A-14 numbers have all gone way up. Wonder why? It makes it very hard for DAL to do anything if they are doing their job!

I think I exceeded my quotta of consecutive questions allowed. :) Thanks for answering them. I will be quiet for a little while. ;)

I don't mean to offend anyone on the DCI side either, and I'm sure Compass doesn't like that we've drawn attention to them in this particular way. Hopefully we'll make it through unscathed on both ends.
...
And I think the Delta logo on the 747 is too small as well. Unless they were just trying to keep it above the jet way when its tied up, but still kind of small. Wish they'd be bold like the old Pan Am lettering but overall very nice looking paint job and I can't wait to see a 753 in it but worried about what the 330. The NWA scheme is nice on that one.
