As far as referring to NW as "our subsidiary, I refer to them as "Company" with ATC, hope that doesn't bother anyone!

Been doing that myself. I think its appropriate. We ARE company. Hope it doesn't alienate the old NWA guys.

Funny....I was thinking the same thing. One would wonder if he needs to change his identity to get back on the forum and off peoples ignore list, why show up with the same act.

You've got it right. 36 months pay protection if you are displaced whether you're NWA or DAL.

Carl

I also think, if I read the displacement section right, that when a vacancy is available on the category you were displaced off of then you get first rights to fill that particular vacancy even before a pilot senior to you.

I'm reading that displacement section because it is pertinent to me because I will most likely be bumped. However, glad to have a job and a paycheck coming from Delta and I didn't know about the 36 months of pay... made my day Carl. :D

Don't dare compare yourself to the many honorable junior pilots on our seniority list. You're not one of them.

Carl

-Carl- I may have been wrong to name-call the venerable -9, so I'll give you that. I appologize to all who may have been offended.

-I see that you're responding anyway.

-As for comparing myself, I'm not sure how I was. Apparently by saying honorable you're implying that I am not, or that I am somehow less because I'm not one of them. How would you feel if a pre-merger Delta pilot said something like that to an NWA pilot? I bet you'd think he was a jerk.....

-On a brighter note, what do you think of the whale in Delta livery? I think it looks great, supposed to be up north soon back into service.

I call for a truce, not that I don't like crushing you, but I always liked Bill Murray :)

It seems so far removed to hear all the negative talk about the DC-9. I'm a new DAL MD88 driver. On selection day I had MD88, 737, 757, and 7ER all available when it came to me. I choose the MD88 for several reasons, primarily because I wanted the most junior platform. At the time everybody thought I was crazy and said I should have picked something else. Within weeks I started feeling like the "black sheep" of the industry.

That said, I wouldn't change things for anything. To each there own, but the type of flying we do is awesome. I think the longest flight I've been on was a little over 3 hours. Personally, I can't imagine being a cruise any longer than that. With the MD88 we have so many more layover destinations than larger equipment, which, to me, makes every trip different and more enjoyable.

Also, I really enjoy the peculiarities of the MD88. You really have to watch the thing. It doesn't always do what you want it to do which keeps you busy and on your toes. I imagine the DC-9 is very similar. I tell you, if/when the day comes that I can bid the DC-9FO I'll be there. The best shot for a junior guy to have any sort of relative seniority is generally in the most junior aircraft. Sure the dials up front may not look like the space shuttle (ie A320, 737) but chicks dig more buttons, gauges and switches. At least that's the story I'm going with.

About 30 from the bottom of 12,400 pilots and not complaining,

Regards,

Ranger

Not sure about that one man. I think the first right of return after a displacement is only for 18 months.
