Carl Using attrition as an equity in SLI is a new precedent. The NWA guys get their cake now and will eat it as they rapidly bid the highest position they can hold, shutting the now junior Delta pilots out in "their" home bases. It is what it is. We all need to remember it is not personal. The NWA pilots are good folks and they will take every advantage of a good opportunity. None of them wants to displace a Delta pilot, or force them to commute, there is no malice. Delta went from a #1 pick to not quite as good a deal as plans B, or C. It is a shame that status quo was not awarded, but rather than complain, I'm putting my efforts elsewhere. |

If you can't stand it, move on. I've been thinking this was a "move on" situation since it was announced. Delta went from a first choice to way down the list. Plan B should be ready prior to displacement. I for one do not want to see you or any other DAL pilot get displaced. Do you really think that is what is going to happen? For what it's worth, I see stagnation, but not massive displacements. Also, remember that most of the old NWA guys had access to international flying on the 757, but chose to fly the DC-9 and A-320. They didn't take it then so they probably won't take it now. Finially, a lot of us (me included) have no desire to commute to ATL where they have massive delays when thee is onel cloud over Alabama. :) If I have to commute, Detroit is my preference. I'm sure that for similar reasons, MEM and MSP are the places where a lot of other NWA guys would continue to prefer. The vast majority of the guys who live in ATL are old Republic guys who want no part of Widebody FO. So come on bud, stick with us. Things might just work out. :D New K Now |

. If the agreement stayed completely intact, you would never get less then 2nd year CA pay/4th year FO pay. Otherwise, I believe your current longevity(if greater) is what you'd get paid.

I read it wrong too. Most guys will be in second year either way. A second year 88 FO makes more than that. So it will be second year CA pay.

Companies Warn Cincinnati & NKY Govt of CVG Closure Email???
I've been hearing a lot of rumors about emails and letters from Proctor and Gamble, Toyota, General Electric, and Fidelity regarding their plans if Delta closes CVG. Apparently, they plan to shutdown a lot of facilities there.
#1. Does anyone have any copies? #2. Is this scare tactics? #3. Assuming the Big 3 footprint changes in light of the almost certain bankrupcies, do you see the game plan in DTW changing? -Fatty |

Unfortunately, you've got it backwards. Flowdowns to Compass get paid the lesser of your current Delta longevity or 2nd year CA pay/4th year FO pay. So, it is quite possible to get stuck on first year FO pay if you are a very recent NWA/Delta hire. I wish I was wrong but I just read the contract today and it's right there in black and white.

Carl, I know you know that this is incorrect.

As a former Western Pilot I can assure you that it is incorrect. I was well versed on ALPA merger policy in 1986. DOH was one aspect that could be considered in a merger among about 6 areas.

It was a factor that could be used until 1991. Had it been ALPA merger policy there would never have been a arbitration with NWA and Republic.
Thomas Roberts issued his ruling in our merger on Nov 6, 1989. It was so devastating to the relative positions of former Northwest Airlines pilots that we worked hard on ALPA to remove the DOH preference. Especially given that Roberts gave it so much weight in his decision. In 1991, ALPA removed DOH as its preferred methodology and removed all other methods from its policy. Carl |

Bar, is that your airplane? It sure looks like a Delta 757. Found it on Lebowski fest dot com. |
