Maybe it worked because we didn't have a Vapp of 123KIAS in a 319 with crummy AT.

It was a smooth as glass evening, and that helps a lot. You really have to be careful in turbulent, gusty conditions as to not overspeed the flaps. Truth is, you just have to be aggressive or you won't make it.
Johnso....250 till 8 out? using Marine math that put you at 2400' AGL. 1400' to slow down while descending on the glide slope. Your superior flying skills made that happen I certainly wouldn't recommend that as the norm. Was the Capt giving you those little hints like hand twitching?

Hope we can fly together, I'd like to see that decel, descend maneuver

Even then, with APU and ground air, normally that just keeps the cabin down to the luke-warm status. On normal hot summer days, as a DC-9 driver, you are only cool when 1.) you are in the terminal or, 2.) above FL 180.

The fixes I have seen on the -9 are the shields for the cockpit windows and the window shades being pulled down and gaspers opened int he main cabin. Other than those, I don't know what we can do.

The few -88's I have been on this summer had no heat/cooling issues that I noticed. But, maybe that was because I had just gotten off a DC-9.

I wonder how the MD-90's are with cooling.....
If we're keeping the 95s, can they get new APUs?

He's used to 250 to the marker on the ERJ145.

Which actually worked if you were agressive and went idle power, gear down and put the flaps down on speed (no 10 below limit) and it worked. Of course, MTOW was at least 1/2 the ZFW of an empty mainline plane. But still that technique worked.

It usually caused the other pilot to snicker at you to see if you'd pull it off before 1000'.

Oh well I had been cleared for the visual 15 out so I dropped down to the minimum allowable altitude(2600ft I think so 2000 AGL)outside of the marker. This allowed me to keep the speed up, drop the gear right before GS intercept, and slow her down quickly. Let's say it worked out that time, but I certainly DON'T make it the norm.

I'm usually 170 KIAS Flaps 2 at the marker, then at 1700 AGL managed speed, gear down and flaps on speed. I only scare my CA's a little bit. When they start twitching is when I back off.

New? Care to explain?

80 found that and sent me the pic to post for him. From what I gather, he fell on the ground laughing for a long while after he snapped a quick pic. Now, I looked on line and found this:

Hmm... how would your fanatical followers feel about you running a cafe? Like Ferd? Who probably started a biker bar or something.

Not really... a big percentage of Delta Dollars never get cashed in. FLights go out full.. the oversales get something (which they overwhelmingly never use) and everybody's (somewhat) happy. The statistic just gives the media and shumer more ammunition to beat up on the airlines...

I guess what I'm saying is that maybe we shouldn't be so gun-ho to be SE taxing in in every situation. You could cost the company more money than any amount of fuel you are trying to save.

(It's not a joke and I wish I could have found an image that didn't have "FAIL" on it. But, you get my point.)

But hey, I heard that this is a captains airline. So, you guys do what you want. I'll be rolling abound with two running in those situations where it's too heavy or too hot to SE taxi, even if it's close.

New K Now (Won't be pushing the envelope to SE taxi. But, I'll by the drinks to help you in your loss in profit sharing.)
Nobody is asking you to taxi SE with a max gross airplane on asphalt in 100 degree weather. You are just being obstinate now with all this... So don't ever leave the chocks big boy because this same thing can happen with both of 'em running... sorry bro.. but your post is a FAIL.

Oh and as far as it being a "captain's airline" (whatever that means) answer this: which of the two former airlines' captains gives the choice of rest break to the pilot flying as opposed to himself? Which former airline had captains that did a bigger percentage of walkarounds? Shall I continue?
