Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Beware of Asia trips that don't transit Narita. I'm on a 13 day where the only place the layover is long enough for laundry is Nagoya. We hit Narita towards the end of the trip, but we get in too late and leave too early to get any laundry done there. I knew Nagoya would be bad, but they just dropped off my stuff and it's 9,170 yen or about $108.
Yes, I bid it knowing laundry would be a problem. But, WOW!!

F. Laundry Expenses
Laundry expenses for a pilot will be reimbursed as follows:
1. A domestic category pilot is not entitled to laundry expense reimbursement.
2. An international category pilot who is engaged in international operations is eligible for
reimbursement for laundry expenses incurred at a layover city if his rotation contains an
ocean crossing and has a time away from base (TAFB) of 96 hours or more:
a. a receipt is required, which must be submitted through the electronic expense form,
and
b. the maximum reimbursement is $50.00.

Ferd;
Has trip quality gone downhill at your seniority, if so, by how much? I thought all you did was lie on the beach and snap your fingers.
It sounds cheaper to buy new skivvies than do laundry.

With the last news on the AE from flight ops, here is a couple questions for the "oh wise ones on here":
1. What are the international destinations from SLC if we are going to convert to ER catergory? Obviously there will still be alot of domestic.
2. More 777s in DTW or ATL? More 747s in DTW or ATL?
3. New bases? Possible or not?

I'm guessing the 777's slots will be mostly DTW, but I'd like to see them put some WB flying back in ATL. The 744's will be all DTW.

Likewise, by going to HNL, that opens a gateway to NRT, and all the possible variations of that, including 12 day trips.
AMS has been talked about, and if we start SLC-AMS this winter or spring, then I'd expect to see more positions added to the category, on a subsequent bid.
I'm sure that you'll see hub to hub flying on the 757, and that would make it possible to fly intnl. out of MSP, DTW, ATL, JFK, on certain days of the week. SLC is geographically positioned to make it an efficient ER base in terms of low credit/high block hours.
Rocky mentioned that the -800 will be losing trips to the -320, and that the -800 will pick up some of the 757 domestic flying out of SLC. Once the T.O.E.'s are done, I think you'll see a fair mix of domestic an intnl. out of SLC.
Guys, when it comes to skivvies and t-shirts, just turn them inside-out and lay them over the air conditioner. Until they start stinking up the other clothes in your bag, it's all good. 4 sets should easily last a 12-day trip.
I wear the same shirt the whole month. Too much of a pain ironing and putting the brass on. They call me stinky, but I call it a brilliant use of time.
Just kidding. ....maybe.
80, being called stinky is at least better than being called Ole Stinky Pants.
A Captain was telling me about a 727 A, long long since retired, who wore the same shirt all 4-days with no undershirt, in the summer. Claimed he didn't sweat. The FE wrote on his shirt secretly just to see if it was true.

newk, a man so fascinating that sharks have a week dedicated to him.
Flew with a guy that claimed he changed his uniform shirt once a month, whether it needed it or not!
