LaHood, FAIL.

But with the Obama agenda in full swing, the DOT has come front and center. Joe Biden even called Secretary LaHood "the star of the Cabinet." Much of this attention is thanks to LaHood's fiery crusades against Toyota, but that's not the whole picture. Obama wants a major shift in transportation policy and LaHood is overseeing it.

As LaHood wrote not long ago, "Today, I want to announce a sea change. People across America who value bicycling should have a voice when it comes to transportation planning. This is the end of favoring motorized transportation at the expense of non-motorized."

There looking to build a transcontinental bike path.

I agree very much. As soon as they start going out the door to enjoy retirements we could be in a lot of trouble as far as quality of training goes.

No names here, but...what is up with the 7ER OE planning guy? I know he's crazy busy, but that guy is worthless. I can't even get him to give me an estimate of how long I have to wait for TOE. I don't mind the time off, but it'd be nice to have some idea of how long I have to wait.

You certainly aren't the only one!! I've heard complaints from quite a few guys. A couple years ago, after calling and emailing several times and getting voice mail, I never got a return call, email (etc) from him. He will take calls from CP's though!!

They have to wait to see what LCA's are available. At least that is what they told me the end of last month. Training ended up paying me to stay home for one rotation, then scheduled me for TOE during the second rotation. That 3 day TOE ended up being a 9 day courtesy of E+15 volcano. I didn't mind as I got to see lots in Paris and got to drink wine/beer and eat cheese with lots of good DALS guys and girls.

Plus the extra pay didn't hurt. Helped cover my expenses.

They are short on LCA's as is. Add hiring, and more movement, then working in the sim, something will give.
The language has to be written for periods of expansion AND contraction AND stagnation. What would the effect be if we were in a less "interesting" period?

Not all of the DGS guys are retired pilots, some are guys out on disability. Just had one for recurrent. Great guy, and it left me thinking that it is a good thing that one could have the opportunity to make a living at Delta if disability became an issue. This particular fellow was hoping to return to the line someday.

Noting is totally recession proof. You and I know that.

If you want make it so that DGS are the first to get let go in a down turn. SLI's only after all DGS staffers get the furlough. If that is not fair, then come up with something else.

If it is the guy that I am thinking of. I agree. An awesome guy in every regard.

The have used positions like Duty Pilot, FOM, SAS, etc like that in the past as well.
